Mr P's Bistro

Mr. P's is a gem. We travel to Southport for anniversaries, birthdays, etc. I would give up eating out for a month to eat once at Mr. P's. The oysters bienville are awesome. The service is always very good. I love the beef tenderloin in roasted red pepper hollandaise sauce with crab and scallops. Make sure you make reservations if you're going on the weekend during the summer, as this is a popular place. more

We went here with 9 people total and ordered a number of different types of items on the menu: Steak, veal, crab, chicken, and a variety of sides. No one in our party was impressed since the meats were a bit rubbery, the green beans were not fully cooked, and the other sides were lackluster. The menu is small, but they have a large number of specials each night. The problem with the specials is that they're all given verbally (in incredible detail), so it's hard for a non-verbal learner to even understand the depth of the menu. To add insult to injury, the server had written down one of the beers as $60 instead of $6. The bill was being paid by one person, and the tax was calculated accurately for the CORRECT amount which lead us to believe the server was trying to give herself a $54 tip.
