Mr. & Mrs. G are always out and about the customers talking and asking about their persons and how they are enjoying the food. Food is prepared sparring no expense in ingredients, flavor and portions. Every effort is made to accomodate your needs with service. This is truly a throw back Soul Food restaurant complete with Chitlins and ""Red"" Kool-Aid. I have invited over twenty guests and only one did not like the restaurant. Understandably so because they are a health nut, but I did attempt to cross them over. I've eaten at just about every soul foul place in town and by far this is the best around. Bottom line, when you have completed a meal that makes you sleep like a baby it's a Great Meal! Highly recommended you must try! Met Mr & Mrs G before tasting their food. They are Wonderful, Hard-Working People, with Excellent cooking talents, and I have never, ever ate an apple pie as tasty and flaky as the one Mrs G makes--it is to DIE for! The food is SOUL food because it warms your very soul, it goes down very good, as it is made with love and pride, all from scratch. I know they get up from a warm and cozy bed very early every morning to prepare all these good, nutricious, very tasty foods. I'm sure they might like to stay in bed sometimes, just a llittle longer, but they are very dedicated to their business, they take alot of pride in what they do, and they know how to treat the customer, with their friendly and welcoming manner, and that is why the place is always busy and business is booming. They line up all the way outside the door to get into this place. It's the most popular place I know that's not even open for dinner. When you see all that, you know the food has got to be good and it is. This is real honest home cooking made under the watchful eye of Mrs. G. Fried Chicken is awesome here, as are the vegtables and you just have to see the Banana Pudding to believe it. I believe you can get more good food for the dollar here than you can almost anywhere else in San Antonio. One other thing, Mrs. G keeps the place spotless. Pros: Outstanding Home Cooked food like Mama used to make, if you were that lucky Cons: The Banana Pudding will do you in, but you've got to have it! more
