A great view 3/14/2010

The park is nice and a popular scenic view. What you may not know is it is also popular among the crooks. Check out the parking area and note the broken glass on the ground. This is an indication of side windows being broken out and purses and wallets being stolen. They will also watch to see who puts their purses in the trunks, break out the glass, pop the trunk from inside and depart with your purse in seconds. Take it with you and don't leave valuables in plain sight. Enjoy the park, and have no surprises when you get back to your car. Pros: Nice view Cons: High theft area more

Mount Bonnell Park 4/12/2007

What is the hype? Climb the steps to overlook a subdivision. If you have never been out in nature for an extended period of time, this may impress you. If you are looking to get away from people, and just relax in nature, this is not the place. Ditch this ideal and head for the Hill Country or McKinney Roughs (which is located between Austin and Barstop on Hwy 71). If you want to look down on yards that are well manicured than this is the place. I went to Mount Bonnell Park after hearing from several people about this place, and started laughing once I got there. The view would be much better if there were only a lake to look down upon. more

Best Scenery in Austin 11/20/2006

This is a great place to bring visitors. The whole city is visible from Mount Bonnell. Most beautiful at night. more

I'm not from Austin, but my boyfriend is. It was my first visit to Mount Bonnell, and I thought the view was awesome.....It's coincidental that this was voted the best place to kiss, this is exactly where my boyfriend and I first kissed. Pros: View, Free Cons: Crowded more

Best View, Best Walk 7/30/2002

This is the best place to get a feel for Austin. You can see the Hill Country, the Lake, the neighborhoods, the bridge, and the city all for a fun climb. It is worth the walk for any Austin visitor or just to remember what all Austin is about for resident. Pros: Free, Outside Cons: Hot in the summer more
