I love these ladies. I first went to Moshi Moshi on a recommendation from a friend about 3 years ago. I picked Juliana at random and she didn't let me down. I had had my hair cut ...

disappointed.........and sad..... 5/7/2008

I made an appointment with Moshi Moshi at 7.30 tonight for a hair cut. On its appointment reminder, it says: my appointment will last until 8:00. When I was right outside of its door at 7:45, I got a call from them saying they cannot keep my appointment because I was 15 minutes late. I know being late is wrong, but as a new mom with a 3-week old baby, there's just things that out of my control. I tried to explain my situation to the girl but she did not want to hear anything I say and even lectured me:"" you can't be 15 minutes late and expect us to keep your appointment!"" If that's the case, why they promised to keep my appointment until 8:00????\r I live really far from Moshi Moshi, choosing them simply because of my friend's recommendation about how friendly they are. Well, obviously they couldn't care less about me, and lied about keeping my appointment until 8:00. \r I know their business are doing very well, but without a caring heart for their customers and a consistent policy, How good the business can be?????\r Now, I just got back home after 1 hour drive, feeling really disappointed and sad. more

Great experience 5/2/2008

Moshi Moshi was great. The people there are very helpful. I had an appointment with Karen. I had long, shapeless hair and I wanted to keep it long but make it look like something. She knew exactly what I wanted and gave me a great cut. I ended up with the hair style that I had been picturing in my head but wasn't sure if it would work out for me. She made it work. It's a simple style, but it frames my whole face better and I just feel prettier because of it. I also found out later that my sister always goes to Karen for her cuts, and my sister's hair is very short and much edgier and more complicated than mine, and she always has great hair styles. Karen is great and everyone at Moshi Moshi is friendly. more

Best haircut I've ever had 3/11/2008

The stylists at Moshi Moshi are the best anywhere. I went there with only a vague idea of what I wanted to do with my hair and the stylist helped me figure it all out. I left feeling and looking great. I highly recommend Moshi Moshi for its, cool vibe, awesome Franklin Street location, and its terrific stylists. Trust me, you will like your hair. Pros: Admiring your hair in the mirror after you leave more

bummer 2/1/2008

i got an awful haircut; it's nothing like i asked for and it wasn't even styled all the way. i made it even once i got home, at least, but still have been too embarrassed to leave my house. the place is cute and the people are sweet but i'm really, really disappointed, especially after hearing such great things. more

Cutest salon around! 11/5/2007

I have been coming to moshi moshi for the past year and have always had a good experience. I have used both Karen and Courtney as my colorists depending on who is available based on my crazy work schedule. I like the fact that everyone seems to work as a team and I don't feel awkward if i need to change from one person to the next. They also sell original products that I have not seen anywhere else. Pros: convenient e-mail reminders, on time, good attitude more

Love it! Super Stylish, not for the types who are afraid of change. 10/26/2007

I love going to Moshi Moshi for my haircuts. It is hands down the best I've ever been to. With that said, you should know that any fancy salon haircut is going to cost at least $40. This is just about the standard rate no matter what salon you go to. If you expect mastercuts prices, go to mastercuts.\r \r Also, if all you want is a simple style (like the ones in mastercuts window or just a blunt cut) then don't bother to pay the extra to go to a fancy salon, moshi moshi or otherwise. The great thing about this salon is that they know how to do cutting edge (pardon the pun) styles and I've never experienced anyone better with razoring my thick hair than Catlin. If you'd rather have a ""safe"" haircut that's really just like everybody else's then I would suggest you say so or go elsewhere, if you say ""do whatever you think would look good"" you'll probably get something that isn't plain jane. I think that pretty much comes with the territory though.\r \r When I move, I just might keep coming back to Chapel Hill to get my haircut at Moshi. Pros: Uncommonly skilled in the latest styles and techniques. Cons: Could be more inviting and warm. more

response to ""seriously dissapointed in service"" 10/17/2007

As the owner of Moshi Moshi, I would like to take an opportunity to respond to ""seriously dissapointed in service"" by stating with what we did do for you.\r We provided you our expertise and honesty about your initial color choices, taking the time to give you a consultation days beforehand. We treated you with kindness when you were initially upset and offered to stay late or come in the next day, even if it was not our normal hours which you declined even when Karen offered to come in as early as 6am the next morning. We were willing to put valued customers aside to accommodate your time constraints and discounted their services because we knew that their time was valuable. And, most importantly, we left you with a very nice color that looked good and was very close to the picture which you yourself provided. I think that that demonstrates a high level of customer care. \r I have been a stylist for 15 years and I have done many corrections and seen some horrendous color jobs through that time. Warm brown with blond is not a correction. I would never have let you leave with hair that needed to be corrected. I am also sorry that you were dissapointed but I stand behind what we did and I especially stand behind my stylists and know that they, and especially Karen, care about what they produce in the salon and put effort into building relationships with clients. \r We do not give discounts for that.\r \r Thanks for hearing me out,\r Catlin\r more

seriously dissapointed in service and hair 10/12/2007

Well, I just had the worst color job of my life.. and after a consultation! Although that is bad in and of itself, worse is how I was treated. Catlin seriously lacks customer care skills. She inappropriately suggested that other personal things in my life must be going wrong and that is why I do not like my hair. Only after I told her that was inappropriate did she apologize. I ended up drying my own hair with a dryer on an extension cord in the back of the salon while Karen, my stylist, moved onto her next customer without saying goodbye. Both stylists assured me that they loved my hair (shouldn't it be the customer that likes the hair?), defiantly disregarding the fact that I left unsatisfied and my hair looked unlike the picture I brought in. After first offering to come in early in the morning to correct the problem, Karen changed her mind and refused to correct my hair with highlights, telling me to wait a week and that if I wanted highlights that I would have to go elsewhere. The salon made me pay $85 for hair that I had to pay 120$ to correct because it was dark brown instead of apricot (the color in the picture I brought in). The two salons I went to for advice regarding corrective color were appalled at the difference between what I received and the picture I brought in. It saddens me that I don't like my hair, but what is worse was how I was treated. I will not be going back. Pros: funky place Cons: horrible and inappropriate customer service, required payment when unsatisfied, defiant behavior when asked for a refund more

Best Salon in the area 9/25/2007

I have been getting hair cuts and color from Caitlin for many years. Before Caitlin there never seemed to be any real options for a decent haircut since I have frizzy wavy bad hair. I like to change my look often and Caitlin is full of new ideas. She is always honest and tells me right away if she does not think a style would work for me. I usually just let her do whatever she wants with great results. I have recommended Moshi Moshi many times to friends and family. It is a fun and relaxing salon and I always look forward to my appointments. I also highly recommend Becky who does my eyebrow tinting and waxing. Becky is kind and gentle and always does a great job.\r more

Nothing worse than a bad haircut 8/31/2007

Moshi Moshi has an admittedly great atmosphere and nice staff, but that doesn't matter if you walk out with a haircut nothing like what you asked for. It will take months for this expensive and totally unflattering haircut to grow out. I am more than a little upset and disappointed. I will not be returning. more

A million stars.... 8/30/2007

I have been going to Moshi Moshi since it opened and am very happy with all it has to offer. They have a great variety of hard to find products that are fun to play with at home but there is no pressure to buy them. I get the waxing services and my sensitive skin has never been irritated. I get my hair cut and colored by Catlin and am always pleased. She always manages to find some way to make my hair look a little different which can be hard to do when I have been going to her for so long. I think her prices are reasonable for her expertise and creativity. I was referred to her by a friend and have referred others to her. We are all different ages, all have different hair types, and have different styles and she manages to make us all happy! Before Moshi Moshi, I went from hair salon to hair salon and now I am so glad to have a place to go where I know I will have a pleasant experience. Pros: atmosphere, service, products, evening and Saturday hours more

What a fun group! 1/13/2007

The first time I went in there was just for a consultation. We talked about the different options for my hair (which I wanted colored but was kind of damaged). The stylist (I think her name was Caitlin?) was very knowledgable and super-friendly. I appreciated her honesty and opinion, and I think she kept me from making a mistake on the color choice. She sent me home with a moisturizing treatment (for free!) and when I came back for my color appointment, she did an absolutely incredible job. I LOVE my new color and stylish cut- feel like a new person!\r \r As a side-note, the energy of the salon was very upbeat and friendly- conversation bounced around the room and everyone seemed funny and inviting. I will definitely come back, it was SO worth the money. My stylist's skills made me feel pretty again! I highly recommend this salon. Pros: highly skilled stylists, fun atmosphere Cons: that I can't go there every day more

Good cut, great atmosphere 10/30/2006

Very cute place! The atmosphere is very fun---kind of retro trendy. It's in a very convenient location on Franklin Street. Stylists seem to know what they're doing and I got a good cut--a little shorter than I wanted, but very cute and I was happy with it. There wasn't any product pushing. They did have some really fun products, but they were expensive. It was no pressure, very relaxing. Pros: Great atmosphere, good stylists more

The best expirience/hair cut and color i have had 10/17/2005

Moshi Moshi means hello, but to me it also means satisfaction. I live in Savannah, Ga, and I am willing to drive the whole 5 hours it takes to get to chapel hill just to get my hair cut/colored. Not only is the atmophere fun but, the hair dye they use is like liquid gold. I don't know what it is, but this stuff leaves your locks glistening like a brilliant cut stone. Oh, and thats not all, the color doesn't fade and your hair is still shining months after, looking like you just came out of the salon. I am also very impressed with the cut Sarah gives me. I can't imagine going anywhere else again. Give it a try you'll see. more

Catlin at Moshi Moshi Has Serious Skills 9/22/2005

Getting your hair cut at Moshi Moshi is a fun little excursion from your day. Catlin is a highly experienced stylist who can create a look that will suit you whether your want a corporate cut or would rather stray from the usual and funk it up. I've had color, trims and full-on hair cuts at Moshi and have always been extremely pleased with the results. The staff is friendly and there is no salon attitide. Better yet, the cuts are reasonably priced and there is never that horrible pressure to load up on expensive products. (Rita is also a wonderful stylist that I have used.) Pros: Fast and Fun, They sell fun purses more
