Beautiful 12/3/2005

These gardens are authentic Japanese style gardens. It is set up as six different gardens, in different styles. They are absolutely beautiful. One exhibit describes the history of the area, and the families that owned the land. You have to take off your shoes to enter an authentic Japanese home. It's fascinating. There is a museum and gift shop, as well as a Japanese restaurant on site. more

Beautiful 9/23/2005

I've been to the Morikami a few times, the most recent was last month for the "Sushi Stroll." I don't know the regular hours for the museum but we were there from about 6pm to about 9pm. Apparently the museum restaurant closed at 8:30pm (which we didn't know), so we missed the sushi dinner. Aside from that, we had a great time walking through the gardens--this time we rented the audio guides which was nice. We also took a lot of photos--the bridges, waterfalls, architecture--you can't help it. more

This is a great place to learn a lot of the japanese culture... or not. There is a lot of history lessons to learn in the museums and even in the gardens. Or you can just take a mindless stroll around the beautiful paths to clear your head. They have several special events planned throughout hte year that is fun for the whole family. more

This is a really beautiful Japanese garden. Donated by a Japnese years ago, it has been well maintained. Occupying several acres of land, the garden/park has several subsections. Strolling through the park, you will see well maintained lawn, beautiful pond, various types of trees and flowers. There is also a Japanese restaurants and an authentic Japanese tee exhibition. You can attend the tee ceremony and eat some sushi here. And don't forget to pick up some little Japanese gifts from the gift shop before you leave. more

A Beautiful and Romantic place 8/14/2005

Opened in 1977, The Morikami is a center for Japanese Arts and Culture in Southeast Florida The museum houses over 5,000 art objects and artifacts including many tea ceremony items. However, the highlight of the Morikami as far as I am concerned are it's extensive gardens with strolling paths, resting areas and one of the most extensive bonsai collections in the United States small lakes teeming with koi, Strolling these gardens with a loved one is a very romantic experience. There have been many marriage proposals there. Before my wife passed away this is one of the last places she wanted to see more

This place has a wonderful Japanese Garden and Museum. They have many special events planned throughout the year that celebrate the Japanese culture. There are also classes you can take to learn about things like origami, bonsais, and tea ceremonies. They offer japanese language lessons for beginners to intermediate. The Gardens are simply beautiful. They include a tropical bonsai collection, small koi-filled lakes, nature trails and picnic areas. There's a really pretty waterfall great for photo ops. Bring some extra money so you can feed the fish or go to the museum store! Fun! more
