Burgers and Fries 5/18/2006

The hamburgers are real tasty here. I love all the pickles they put into the hamburgers...it really makes it taste good. Also, make sure to eat their fries. They arent those dried up saltless kind..they are actually good tasting warm. I love going here for lunch or dinner. The place is pretty nice too. They have a huge patio for the summertime..so its fun to sit out and eat. more

Moody's 5/13/2006

This place is pretty famous throughout the area. You will enjoy excellent burgers and fries here. Not by any means your average burger, more of a meal that can be served by their fireplace especially on a cold night. The have a limited menu so if don't like burgers you can just hang at their beer garden for a while. The beer garden is a huge hit in this "hood", probably more popular these days than the inside part. Maybe you have seen their coupon in the local papers for buy one burger get other one for 1/2 off. It has been running in the papers for like 20 years. more

Mmmm burgers 3/13/2006

Moody's has the best burgers in Chicago. In the winter, sit inside and get toasty. In the summer, sit on the patio. They have one salad but pretty much everything is fried. Go only if you feel like splurging on calories. Parking. Doesn't take credit cards. more

Weak Service, Smoky Interior 3/9/2006

Everyone loves the patio here, but it's really the only thing Moody's has going for it besides a parking lot. There's no way you will want to sit inside; it is dark, poorly ventilated, the state of cleanliness is questionable. As a burger lover, I have to say that Moody's burgers are nothing special. Let me repeat: Moody's burgers are nothing special. I think people get confused, eating outside, in fresh air, their stomachs growling....everything tastes better in that situation. In fact, Moody's didn't even make the list for top contenders in Metromix's search for the best burgers (this list also includes suburban eateries). The service is slow, slow, slow, slow. You have to order a pitcher because the waitress will forget about you. Everyone looks the same in the dark. The only positive: beer is decently priced and you can get a glass or pitcher. more

Terrific Burgers 1/14/2006

If you are looking for a great burger you must try Moody's Pub. The burgers are wonderful as are their salads and their home made blue cheese salad dressing. I think this place is great restaurant to enjoy a nice meal, good environment and the fireplace adds a very neat touch. Moody's is found on North Broadway, not from Loyola University. They serve peanuts, if you are a beer and peanuts fan this is the place to try. But don't forget to sample a burger too. more

The BEST pub!! 9/7/2005

Moody's is my all time favorite pub! They have cheap and delicious burgers, salads, and onion rings. Their mixed drinks are strong and have cute names like "Scarlet O'Moody" and "Moody Mama". In the winter the fireplaces are going and it's dim inside with candles on each table and free peanuts. In the summer check out the huge beer garden! It's a very diverse crowd and we absolutely love it there. Everyone we take wants to go back. They only accept cash, so be sure to visit the ATM before you go. more

Great informal outdoor dining spot 6/19/2005

My husband and I took our newborn to Moody's this afternoon for a late lunch. There, we met up with several friends who also had small children with them. It was a great choice on a perfect spring day like today. We sat outside and had enough room to spread out across several tables. That said, there were a lot of other diners there presumably drawn to the same thing s we were: good burgers, low prices, and a pleasant outdoor setting. Check out Moody's if that's what you're looking for. It's worth the drive if you're coming from Evanston or down town. It's also close to the Red Line so for those of you without a car, it's convenient as well. more

  • The Scene
While the exterior looks like a bank from the 1960s, inside is all pub. Wooden tables with free peanuts are packed tightly together in the darkness. Two fireplaces keep things...
