Well conceived; perfectly executed ... what more can be said? EVERYONE who works at Moody's is genuinely friendly and welcoming ... whether you are a local with a "foodie habit" or a curious first-timer. Prices are among the highest in town, BUT are well justified, given the quality and presentation. Seating is available in three booths in the bar, a bustling dining room and/or a seasonal patio. The booths are by far more fun, as you become a part of the bar energy and are able to enjoy people watching as clients arrive. Moody's attracts the eclectic! (If seeking something quieter, the dining room may be more appropriate ... it all depends on who's sitting next to you). The small stage attracts name talent and is a perfect venue for an intimate evening of live music. A "must do" whenever in the North Tahoe/Truckee/Donner area! (And without a doubt the best homemade do-it-yourself S'mores, done on a hibachi right on your table)! Pros: Quality, presentation, menu variety, and KILLER staff! My husband and I have dined at Moody's Bistro in the past and have always enjoyed the food until this past weekend. Our meal was so bad that we vowed to never eat there again. We ordered two appetizers - one was a pasta dish with veal breast and the other was a crispy gnocchi. The veal was so fatty that we couldn't even eat it. The pieces of veal were, in fact, just pieces of what seemed to be uncooked fat! When we complained, our waitress was very condescending and explained that we should have know if would be fatty because it was veal breast is mostly fat. The gnocchi was bland and the red sauce that accompanied it was completely tasteless. The portions very small and the food was overpriced. For a main course, we both ordered the cod. It was anything but spectacular, but given the choice of venison or rabbit or chicken, we opted for the fish. Again, we received a tiny, overpriced portion that was served in a tasteless broth. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area and we enjoy dining out. I have never taken the time to write a review before, but honestly, the food at Moody?s was so terrible that I felt the necessity to write. This was one of the worst meals I?ve ever eaten in a restaurant that promotes itself as fine dining. The lounge, on the other hand, it a great place to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine and listen to live jazz. The lounge staff is friendly and the drinks are generous. Unless you like overpriced and boring food, skip the dinner and go for the drinks! Pros: Great music in the bar Cons: Terrible and overprice food more
