Looking for a fun, casual place to eat? This is a great place to find it. We ate on the patio facing the bay. Smoking is allowed in this area for information. Food was excellent! We loved all the seafood. Well done and cooked well. Pricing is reasonable except 18% gratuity is included in pricing. We did not feel this helped our service any which was lackluster at best. Best to sit at the bar have a signature drink or one of your favorites and have great food! more

Place is nice, looks good with a nice atmosphere. Food, not so good. The onion "brick" bland, burgers bla, "Mahi" fingers over cooked and even the sodas were off. Speaking of off, the kids shrimp we ordered seemed to be fresh a week ago. Apparently the happy hour is good, but being early afternoon we didn't partake. Oh, did I mention EVERYTHING is served in or on disposable plate ware. more

After shopping at the Fresh Market in Coconut Grove, we stopped at Monty's Seafood. It has an island theme complete with palm frond covered bar and Casa Blanca style fans. Most of the seating is outside. (At least I think it is...I never went inside) The tables are nicely spaced so you feel like you have plenty of room. I was pleased to see they have a resident cat named Boots. My husband and I ordered Rum Runners (Happy Hour time) from a friendly server then asked her about the crabs. I was one week early for Stone Crabs and she told me they had Jonah's in their place. I didn't want to order an entire platter of Jonah crab claws so she suggested the raw bar: a small boat full of ice at which you paid separately from your restaurant tab AND it happened to have happy hour prices at that time. NICE TIP! I went over and ordered a couple crab claws for us just to see if we liked them. I saw some nice looking shrimp and expressed that they looked good too. The guy was so nice he gave me a free one to try. The crab was great (we gave Boots a bite) The shrimp was great so I went back to order six shrimp for my husband and I and "one for Boots". He told me "No, no. Give him this"....as he handed me an oyster. "They are his favorite." No charge. Nice guy. Next to the raw bar was a man on a stage singing island style music. Very nice background and a refreshing break from the constant inundation we receive in restaurants of crummy hip hop music or televisions. In addition to the raw bar, my husband ordered half an onion ring loaf. Tasty but I don't eat much of that kind of thing. I ordered a She Crab Bisque which was OUT OF THIS WORLD delicious. You don't get a lot for the price, but isn't that always the way with crab items? So we had about 8 crab claws, 6 shrimp, 2 drinkies, one bisque and one onion ring loaf and we were stuffed. It was about $50 before tax and tip. Not a budget night necessarily but for the pleasant table next to the marina, the good service, the cat and the great seafood, it was terrific! more

The food is pretty darned expensive when you take into account the quality, and the fact that it's all served on paper plates with plastic cutlery. It's a nice place to get a beer and some oysters on a hot day, but otherwise, go somewhere cheaper with better food. Fried food is soggy, and scant. You don't get much for your buck here. Salads are drenched in dressing, so ask for it on the side. Better yet, just go somewhere else if you're hungry. more

the waitress that helped us was very sweet, but the food was terrible.\r i asked for a margarita ,i do believe that the tequila was just shown to the glass ,because the drink did not have any .\r the churrasco was very tough and with lots of fat,the food was high price for the location,i have gotten better food at Miami beach for less money and ,when i complained to the manager he could not understand why.\r there were also 2 other customer complaining about the food while i was there .\r i will for sure never again visit ,also they will get free advertizing from me ,telling people not to go there .\r worst time ever... more

the old Monty's had a better ambiance, air conditioning and more options to eat. current Monty's has an excelent crab, good service, but lacks air-conditioning. more

Monty's is worthwhile if you're interested in people watching-hanging out in a beautiful location. The wait staff is generally undermanned which does lead to some lapses in service at times. The food is of the fried pub variety, nothing special here, and you shouldn't be going here for the food. Its all about drinks with friend, a live band, loads of young people, and a great view of biscayne bay. more

Monty's Raw Bar is a high volume, seafood restaurant right on the beach. Friday afternoons they have their raw bar open and have a great happy hour. The food here is what you would expect from visiting a high volume restaurant but that does not make this a place to avoid. It still manages to provide a great atmosphere and the Pain killer drinks will make sure the night is fun. more

Parked no problem on a Thursday nite March 27th, '08 7:45pm. Got a table right on the water; no problem. Cleaned off my own table (had plastic glasses and a paper basket which we took to the bar. Bar staff saw us but was too busy at the moment). Back to the table and waited 10-15 minutes. Never saw a waiter. Back to the bar. Barkeep still to busy to ask if we would like anything, so we left the place and spent my $140 somewhere else. more
