I had the privilege of working at this school a number of years ago when Bobbie Spinx was expanding the program. I thoroughly enjoyed working here. I am a traditional teacher but found the Montessori program challenging for both educator and student. I would have to say that the program is not for everyone. The student must be motivated and the teacher (whether to 3 year olds or 6th graders) must be willing to let students work independently. I found both to be present qt this school. I would leave Montessori World of Children to eventually become a senior administrator (Bobbie warned me about this...trading teaching children for directing staff to do the same) a at a residential treatment facility for special needs children. Many of the lessons I learned in Chattanooga I was able to apply to my work here, enabling and encouraging both staff and residents alike. If you have never checked this program out, do it! Your time will not be wasted!
Pros: Young children get a real jump on academics of K-12; Wonderful opportunity for children to develop, learning their person strengths and weaknes and apply/address them.
Cons: Childs must be able to work independently and at a pace to keep them competetive with mainstream students.
