My daughter attended MAC for 2 years. We had a wildly inconsistent experience with the 2 classrooms (toddler and primary) in which she was a student. Our daughter at the time was in speech language therapy and needed some additional time/help transitioning from one activity to the next- some teachers handled this wonderfully, while other didn't have a clue how to help her, which seemed indicative of a lack of consistent training for staff.Communication around the child’s progress has to be one of the school’s biggest problems; in one class,we were told she was doing fine, in the next we got this vague worksheet didn't really give us a clear picture of what she'd actually learned/achieved during a 6 month period.Transitions from one grade to the next are not handled with the individual child's needs in mind- it's more of a numbers game for the school. There is a lot of turn around in the after care program, and with the teacher's aides, which doesn't give kids time to build rapport with their helpers/teachers. It's a big school and it's easy for kids to get lost in the program, especially if they have special needs. We moved on to a smaller program and my daughter flourished immediately- it was shocking how much better the new school was for her; it really drove home for our family how under-served her needs were at MAC. more

We could not be happier with the decision to send our son to Montessori Academy of Colorado (""MAC""). From his first months at MAC, our son showed his true love for the place. That should be no surprise. The staff is smart, well-trained, and committed. The building is bright and spacious and has outdoor facilities that are hard to beat. The parent-body is involved. The leadership is transparent and clearly committed to constant evaluation of the institutional practices at every level. MAC teaches self-sufficiency and personal responsibility at an early age, all the while providing an environment of support and safety. This institutional commitment to a Montessori curriculum leads to children who are clearly happy and engaged by their experience. MAC is a treasure. more

Observing my son's classroom and playground at MAC is one of my favorite things to do and I often wish I could stay longer. The classrooms are incredibly peaceful places (at least when I've been there) and the gravity with which the teachers apply the Montessori method is impressive. This isn't to say that it's dour there; the children are active and having fun - but you can really tell that it's not an average ""day care."" MAC is clearly a school with management that takes our children's success seriously. more

MAC is the best preschool in Denver. 2/3/2012

MAC is the best preschool in Denver. Period. We have two boys who have gone to MAC. Last year, when our oldest son started kindergarten at a new school, it was amazing to see how far ahead he was compared to his peers. He was not only reading at a much higher level than his peers, but he was able to make friends easier than others. Our youngest son has been at MAC since he was about 4 months old and we truly believe the care he received in Nido (2-18 mos) and Toddler???s (18-36 mos) was the best. The student-to-teacher ratios allow the children to get a lot of attention, love, and guidance and this in turn gives them confidence to become more independent when they do their ???work.??? I encourage all parents to look at this school if they want a great place to begin their child???s education. more

We love MAC! Our son has been in the 1/18/2012

We love MAC! Our son has been in the Toddler Community for almost exactly a year now. He loves to go to school. He comes home with lots to say about his friends and teachers, what went on in ""specials,"" the work he did during the day, etc. His relatives are amazed at his independence, self-confidence, and manners. I recommend MAC because of the community, the parent involvement, the teachers' love and respect for the children, the level of training (and ongoing training) of the teachers, the spacious and well-prepared classrooms, and the weekly art and music classes (with teachers who have music and art degrees!). more

Outstanding and Dedicated to Children 4/14/2010

Wow. Having our girl here is such a treat. With such a professional staff and such a deep regard for the children I am 100% comfortable that our three month old daughter is getting the best care and highest expectations for discipline and behavior. It's a blessing to be able to be so relaxed when I am away from our beautiful girl. Whoi would have expected it? Pros: New Exec. Director Dedicated Staff Cons: Demanding staff! more
