ILLEGAL KENNEL OPERATING WITHOUT A PERMIT
PLEASE BE AWARE:
I left my healthy 8-year-old Labrador, Oliver, in the care of Montecito dog Care for four days.
When I returned, I was told that Oliver had ""suffered separation anxiety leading to a heart attack"" the night before, and that he had been buried that morning in their yard.
I was not contacted to let me know that Oliver had displayed any symptoms that may need medical attention during the four days that I was away. I was not notified that my dog had died, allegedly the day before my scheduled return. And lastly, I was never informed that my dog would be buried in their front yard the morning of my arrival.
With the help of Animal Services and the Santa Barbara Sherriff's department, Oliver was unburied, with his collar still on, wrapped in a tarp.
Following Oliver's death, Animal Services conducted an investigation, prompted by what they witnessed while at the property.
On April 19, 2011, the Santa Barbara Public Health Department determined that through their investigation, this is an illegal kennel, without a permit, and was cited for having 25 dogs on the property for the purpose of breeding, which violates California State Law on the basis of ""overcrowding"".
They were ordered to sell over 20 of the dogs and mandated to cease all boarding operations.
I've recently been notified by other Yelp users and friends who have called inquiring about boarding, that they are still operating.
Montecito Dog Care, DOES NOT HAVE A PERMIT and is operating an ILLEGAL KENNEL.
PLEASE notify Animal Services should you contact Montecito Dog Care, and they are still operating as a kennel, and please share this review with friends in the Santa Barbara area to ensure that they are never allowed, much less profit from, illegally breeding or boarding animals again.]
