The Monroe Diner is a local spot that attracts folks from near and far. It's located right on Route 17M.
I frequent the diner periodically, especially if I'm waiting to have my car fixed across the street at Freeman's Precision Motors (please see my review).
The diner has all the usual dishes: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and late night fare. The food is good, portions generous and the place is clean. Service is good and there seems to be a regular clientele who eat here frequently and are known by the staff.
Lunch specials change daily and there are sandwiches and hot and cold entrees. All include a cup of soup, beverage and dessert.
All of the food is made on the premises, and the baked goodies are popular. Try the strawberry shortcake--it's my favorite.
