Monart Drawing Studio is located in Arlington Heights. The
moment you walk into the studio, you'll know it is a special place where students of all ages can experience the joy of artistic expression in a peaceful, serene, intimate and nurturing setting. Away from the maddening crowd, the Monart Drawing Studio is an inviting creative oasis.
Basic curriculum and special classes include:
• Getting ready
• Basic drawing
• Intermediate
• Teen and adult
• Winter/summer art camps
• Mini camps
• Birthday parties
• Private lessons
• Ladies night out
All classes at the studio are based on the methods described in the best-selling books, Drawing with Children and Drawing for Older Children & Teens by Mona Brookes, founder of the Monart Institute. Students will be taught to recognize the five basic elements of shape and combine them to create realistic drawings. Just as a musician learns notes and scales in order to play an instrument, Monart students learn the skills necessary to translate their perceptions onto paper.
Ellen Sharpe, the owner, is an artist/teacher who resides in Arlington Heights. In 1995, after having gone through an extensive training with Mona Brookes, founder of the Monart Institute, she became the first and only licensed Monart teacher in the greater Chicagoland area. In addition to her Monart Drawing Studio located in downtown Arlington Heights, Ellen also has classes at other locations.
