My husband and I have faithfully gone to dentist all our lives. Last time before going to Monarch was 6 months ago in Missouri to our dentist we had been seeing for 5 years. We have always gotten good reports of healthy teeth and gums. After moving to San Antonio, were seen at Monarch Dental for our routine appointment and cleaning. We were told we both had gum disease and needed to have deep cleanings after panaramic xrays and bite wing xrays. After hearing that we were both told the exact same thing and the dentist not being able to answer the question of how long it take gum disease to develop, we decided that we would only get the regular cleaning and get a second opinion. However, they refused to do care unless we agreed on the deep cleaning. We cancelled our appointments and got a printout of our xrays. I searched dentist reviews on-line and found a highly recommended dentist. At this dentist, my husband was told he had above average gums and teeth and clearly no signs of gum disease which was the same as he had been told by our dentist in Missouri. When my husband told the dentist that Monarch had done both panaramic and bite wing xrays, he stated that it was not the norm to take both xrays and it is possible they did that to file a claim on both insurances since we are covered under my husband's and my dental employer dental plans. Although I'm writing the first review for the Schertz office, I read another similar review for the Dallas Monarch office where the patient was told almost the exact thing we were told. Be wary if you attend this dentist. I'm sure you will need deep gum cleaning that is not covered by your insurance.
