Tasteless food, horrible service! Avoid!! 11/22/2007

I would strongly suggest avoiding this restaurant at all costs! It had nothing to recommend it. Decor was tacky, food was horrible, and service was horrendous!\r \r It seems that the only effort they spent was on the tacky decor. The Szechuan chicken was simply plain & boiled. All they did before serving it to me was that they poured some bland sauce on it which by no means would be considered Szechuan! My husband ordered the crispy beef, which did have some flavor, but was tough and kind of soggy. The sign said Chinese & Polynesian, but there were hardly any Polynesian dishes on the menu (we even asked).\r \r The waiter brought out dipping sauce after we sat down, and we assumed that it was for crispy noodles which never came. But when we asked, we were told it was for appetizers which we didn?t order. So it was just left on the table to remind us that we didn?t order any appetizers. When our entrees came out, there was no rice. I had to ask & was told that you have to order rice separately. We thought this was a little unusual for a Chinese restaurant, & the waiter should have mentioned it. Parking was easy, though.\r \r The waiter had no social skills whatsoever. He seemed like a busboy or a dishwasher who was handed a notepad and thrust into the dining room to wait on customers. He could not answer any questions about the drinks menu. To take our order, the waiter wouldn?t ask if we wanted something to drink, or what we would like, etc. He would just stand over us with a scowl and wait until we gave him our orders or told him we didn?t want something. He even stood over us & waited while we signed the receipt & entered the tip.\r Pros: Parking Cons: Food quality, service more

great dining experience 11/27/2006

i have no idea what that other person was talking about. I think Mon Kou is amazing. The staff are really generous and hospitable and the food was absolutely deluctible and delicious!!! I reserved a party there and it was an incredible success. Almost 30 people came and it was so inexpensive compared to other restaurants. I highly reccommend this place for couples or families! Pros: great staff, great food, great mood Cons: um... more

I feel sorry for them 1/2/2005

Mon Kou was selected for our dining choice because I thought I missed Polynesian food but this restaurant reminded me of what I did not like about the former era of Chinese Restaurants. In a word, MSG. One dish came out fine, Hawaiian Cow. But the Tofu with Vegetables was EXTREMELY salty. The waiter and the desk offered us nothing except to patronizingly remind them of our sensitivity the next time we return. We AIN'T GOIN' BACK. We suggest the same for the public. Good Luck if you do go there! Pros: Nice Menu, Easy Parking Cons: , Excess MSG more
