I've been several times for dinner or just drinks. It's been great every time. Haven't tasted a bad thing on the food menu. Fun place for a girl's night out!!!

Different but not award winning at all 6/29/2006

My experience was the food was average to above average for the area, but if Cielo was located in areas such as Atlanta, Charlotte or even Tampa, I'd give it 6 mos, the problem is no real competition or a bunch of people who really know their food in Memphis, plainly it's 'good' for what Memphis has to offer', which ain't much, but I'll say it's worth a try, but if you travel beyond the MidSouth or moved here from any other knowledgeable 'food city', you, no doubt will yawn more

Absolutely Delicious! 5/31/2006

My husband and I ate at Cielo for our first wedding anniversary last weekend. The food was wonderful!! I was also impressed because they let us bring in the top tier of our wedding cake and served it to us after the dinner. The setting was very romantic as well. I would highly recommend Cielo for any special evening! Pros: Wonderful food, Friendly waitress, Romantic Cons: Spendy (but worth it) more

Update on Cielo 5/2/2006

An update on this restaurant: one year later. well, we went back as promised and unfortunatly our experience this time was not as pleasant. It took forever to get our food. there were six of us and no one got an appetizer. it took 2 1/2 hours for soup and entree to be served. food was great, service was average. we will not be back Pros: Great Food Cons: Parking limited, kitchen slow more

Romantic - YES 1/4/2006

The food (being French) is served in small portions, but it tastes GREAT. The service is wonderful and the staff will even give you the small history of the old Victorian home it's located in. Beautiful atmosphere! Pros: wonderful food, romantic, fun Cons: parking, pricy, small portions more

Great - but not on Valentines Day 7/7/2005

This is a great little gem of a restaurant - but not on Valentines Day! I went on Valentines Day and the service was very slow, it was waaay overcrowded - not so romantic. Every other time that i have been though was wonderful. The food and the service is exceptional. Pros: fantastic food, ambiance, good little bar Cons: parking, not on Valentines Day, not on Valentines Day more

A Definite MUST in Memphis 10/18/2004

I found this restaurant on this website, and the most positive review did not do it justice! My boyfriend took me here for my birthday in September 2004, and I was not an ounce disappointed. Every dish is creative and delicious...each appetizer and main dish melts in your mouth. The mood of the restaurant makes you feel like you are starring in an old movie. I would recommend sampling ALL the desserts. You probably want to make a reservation on the weekends. A bit chilly in the summer...bring a cartigan, ladies. Pros: Out of the Ordinary, Reasonably priced, Appropriate portions more

great for groups, too. 6/10/2004

yes, this restaurant is incredibly romantic, and the house/neighborhood lend itself well to that. however, i thought that i would mention, this is also a really good place for large groups, too. a couple of years ago, about 10 of my friends and our dates, reserved the 2nd floor for a saturday night dinner. (the only smoking area, btw) it was such an intimate, relaxing, wonderful night! there was a dining room, lounge, and bar all for us. atmosphere and service were excellent! more

I adore this restaurant! 1/21/2004

Cielo is, without a doubt, my favorite restaurant in Memphis. It is hidden gem located in a charming, sophistocated and elegant old house in the Victorian Village. The daily menu is limited, but diverse and constantly changing. The chefs are so talented, I doubt you could go wrong with any selection. Be sure to try an exotic wine or beer to go with your meal. While it is my top choice to celebrate any special occassion, it is most suitable for a romantic dinner. Pros: exquisite dishes, beautiful atmosphere Cons: expensive, hard to find more

Change Up from Ribs 11/18/2002

Cielo is a hidden gem in Memphis. It is easy to miss, as it is in an old 1800's house that was converted to a restaurant. The food is good. They keep things simple as far as options (one page menu), but every thing sounds good. When I went, the fish of the day was sea bass which is hard to find now a days. They close promptly at 9:00 PM on weekdays, so be sure to get there by 8:30. Save room for dessert. Pros: environment Cons: early hours more

Very Romantic and artsy atmosphere 8/14/2002

The food was very good with an excellent flavor, however the cuts of meat were average both the sea bass and the prime rib, but again the flavor was tremendous. A great place to take a date with great ambience and service!!! more

Cielo is ""heavenly"" 8/4/2002

The atmosphere, service (ask for Kari), meal, wine, and music made our rare outing without children as much fun as 20 years ago. I would have paid more. Pros: service, menu, music Cons: clean up the sidewalk, limited wine selectio more

Victorian Romance 7/26/2002

My dining experience at Cielo's was wonderful. The ambience was very romantic and the food was fun and delicious. The wine list was perfect and not outrageously expensive. The wait staff was funny, pleasant, efficient and unobtrusive. My date and I went upstairs to the bar afterwards for a drink and listened to a fabulous singer and piano player who was a delight to the ears. I highly recommend Cielo for any occasion but especially for a romantic night out on the town. Pros: Romantic, Good food, Good wine Cons: Parking more

It was a heavenly experience 7/18/2002

My new boyfriend and I decided to go to Memphis for the 4th of July weekend. While planning our trip, I stumbled across the website, ""Citysearch.com"" for things to do in Memphis. We choose ""Cielo"" for the most romantic restrauant - it definietly lives up to the atmosphere. It was great service, food was a work of art, terrific, and setting was so romantic. The house was built in 1886 and we truely felt an ambience there. Our meal there will be hard to top!! And we built a great memory - I am sure that holiday will be with us for many years to come!! Pros: small dining areas, reasonably priced, definitely romantic more

Old City Decor in Hip Atmosphere... 6/13/2002

A friend sent us a gift certificate after reading about Cielo and I have to say it was excellent. I just moved to this area and it was the first five star restaurant that I've been too. The nineteenth century architecture mixed with new age restoration was very cool. My bf had a seafood dish and I had the duck and everything was amazing. The dessert was out of this world. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends. There are also multiple floors, which would make it good for large groups, etc. Pros: Atmosphere more
