We ordered a vegan hamburger (no fries or any sides included) for $7 that tasted bland and was the size (and about the same flavor) of a white castle microwavable hamburger. Yes, ...

Best venue in PDX 7/8/2009

Jim Brunberg has managed to create a venue that gives the audience the intimacy of a much smaller space while being able to hold a good size crowd. Being a musician has allowed Jim to bring the best space around for artists to perform in. A must visit venue for music lovers. Pros: Intimate with some size more

Best sound and atmosphere in town 7/8/2009

I own the place. This is a disclosure AND a comment on the ""reviews"" here, which anyone can write. Come check it out yourself. We've been consistently voted the best small venue in Portland, the sound is amazing, the staff awesome, drinks and food delicious, and most importantly, we have amazing concerts by great artists. We are newly reopened, about 200 capacity, but still owned and operated 100% by musicians. Check out images at our website. Pros: Great sound more

Nice Venue, but with a Down Side 3/2/2009

I note two nice reviews - from 5 years ago. While the venue has indeed brought some great music to Portland in the past, there are downsides to this listening venue. They've recently remodeled - one can only hope they've added some comfortable seats, beacuse they've had some real killers in the past. And from a performer's point of view, Mississippi Studios presents challenges. Performers can wait months to get a simple yes or no about a performance there, which can really make a mess of tour plans, or CD releases. This has been true in the past, and doesn't seem to be changing. As for me, if there's someone appearing there that I'd like to hear, I can only hope that they'll be playing in Seattle, Eugene, or somewhere else close enough to travel to. more

incredible sound and feel 9/20/2004

I saw the Sneakin' Out show last weekend and was totally blown away. The venue's sound/mix was incredible. Warm red walls, good red wine--people were happy. Even the bathroom is cool. Pros: inexpensive, beautiful and clean, amazing sound Cons: , getting popular, no one under 21 more

Mississippi Studios is unique 9/2/2004

This is UNIQUE venue!!! WOW! There are a lot of music venues in Portland, some of them really good, but this is the only place in town that is truly an intimate concert hall! You can actually interact with the bands, and the sound system is run by the owner who is a true professional. Try it! It's great! Pros: Excellent sound, Inexpensive, Great bands Cons: , seats are hard more
