I have a MacBook, and was given a very high estimate for a repair by another 'brand name' store. They did recommend a local shop I could take it to, but told me the warranty would be void if I did. That made me question whether I wanted to go to the local store.
My daughter looked online, found Mission:Repair, and read some reviews. She called them and got a different estimate than the one given by the other store. I decided to FedEx it to them. When using Mission:Repair you have to pay ahead of time.
They emailed me right away to tell me they received my computer, and emailed me again when they figured out the problem. It turns out that the price was going to be quite a lot less than what I had payed because there was a different and simpler issue than what they originally thought. They emailed me to make sure it was okay to continue with the repair, and then Mission:Repair completely credited back my credit card the excess charge.
The computer was fixed in a day, and then they FedExed it back to me. They were quick, honest and efficient. I was really amazed; it was wonderful. I appreciated their honesty because usually companies do it the other way around: open up the computer, fix all kinds of extra things, and charge you more without asking. I was basically able to get a brand new laptop for next to nothing because of their honesty.
