Mission Peak is a great place to go on a weekend excursion. It is literally Fremont’s backyard and trailheads are easily accessible from Ohlone College and Stanford Avenue. The trails are well marked and are ideal for walking, running, or biking. There is also a very good view at the top of Mission Peak. Just as a warning, if you go on a weekend, parking may be sparse. more

outdoor fun 8/12/2005

Hiking up Mission Peak is always fun, whether you get to the top or not. The trail is easy to follow, used frequently by families, joggers and dog lovers. It’s also a great place to drive up at night and stargaze. Be careful, though, the road is one-way in some parts and there are deer and other wildlife. more

Undiscovered treasure 8/11/2005

Behind Ohlone College rises Mission Peak, a beautiful hiking area that offers a view of the bay and the surrounding hills after a short two hour hike to the summit. Though one may encounter a few cows on the three miles to the way to the top, the trail is not usually otherwise crowded, and is particularly enjoyable during the spring, when the rains turn the grass green and even occasionally bring a few wildflowers to life. more
