BEST Pawn and Coin Store in Kansas 2/11/2012

I've delt with these people for years in both jewelry and coins. I've found them to be both honest and helpful in all respects. People this is a pawn shop NOT a swap meet. Don't go in expecting to get what you pair for an item. THEY like all businesses are in business to make money. You won't find a better shop anywhere. Ask for Robin if you have any problems and she will take care of them. Thomas more

learn to haggle 2/22/2011

I just read the 2 previous reviews for mission pawn and I have to disagree with both of them. When I wanted to buy a stereo for my 3 seasons room, I was able to pick one up (Sanyo) for 20 bucks. came with 2 speakers and had a CD plug in in back for a CD player. (I bought the single disc (Sony) CD player for 15 bucks from them also).stereo was priced at 39 bucks and cd player was priced at 32 bucks. I even got them to throw in 2 RCA cords to hook up the CD player for free (he had a drawer full of cords at the counter). To both of the chuckle heads wanting to pawn crap so they can buy drugs or pay their wife's credit card bills: my suggestion is L2HAGGLEBRO (be nice about it and the longer u talk to them about prices the better the deal you get. they are people too and like being treated with a little common decency.) on Saturday mornings, I often get bored and visit all the local pawn shops to check inventory and see what sells and what sits on their shelves for months not selling. this is how you can get your best deals. if u notice an item your interested in, don't act like you are. If it has been there for 4-5 visits or longer, make em an offer on it. chances are they will let it go cause they want to get rid of stuff that is sitting around collecting dust. granted, not everything on their shelves is mint condition, so its up to the buyer to check items before leaving the store. (I like making only one trip to get things done.) also, just because you were stupid enough to pay retail on something doesn't mean that I want to. J - maybe this will help you understand 22.5 cents on the dollar: You pay $100.00 bucks RETAIL for an item. Pawn offers you $22.50 for the item as a pawn loan. For some reason (and this has been known to happen) you don't have the money in time to get the item back (redeem your loan in time) so now they can and have to sell the item to recoup their loss. They put a $45.00 price tag on it (cause technically its used and he's lucky if he can get that). Then I come in and haggle them down to $31.00 (cause I'm good like that). For his troubles, the pawn guy only makes $8.50, I got one HELL of a deal, and you still pay RETAIL for stuff? signed, Happy in Roeland Park more

Not worth the touble 3/16/2010

Tried to get a pawn loan and brought in $1000 worth of stuff that I had bought 3 months ago - still in box and with receipts. Told them I needed $350 until after March 1st (roughly 14 days), but would only offer me $225. I told them that amount wouldn't cover my bills that were immediately due, and they said sorry and walked away. It's quite apparent that they are only after the extremely desperate. I guess I couldn't understand 22½¢ on the dollar for nearly brand new equipment. Search around, there are bound to be better places than this. Pros: Will steal from the desperate Cons: Extreme lowballing, not very polite more

Dishonest!!!!! 1/20/2009

I would not recommend this place, they are unprofessional and dishonest! I went in with some gold I wanted to get rid of & I had already known how much it was worth. They told me a lie and tried to work me....... I went to another pawn shop and they told me exactly what I knew it was worth and offered me a fair price. This place is very dishonest and unprofessional. I mean ok it is a pawn shop but a business none the less! If you want to be treated fairly as well as like an appreciated consumer and not a criminal, I would suggest somewhere other than this place. It is sad that a consumer is no longer valued but that merchants such as this can treat you like you need them more than they need you. As a business owner, I can honestly say this is an example of the kind of business that gives a community a bad reputation. I will never enter their store again. Cons: Unprofessional, discourteous, dishonest more
