I just read the 2 previous reviews for mission pawn and I have to disagree with both of them.
When I wanted to buy a stereo for my 3 seasons room, I was able to pick one up (Sanyo) for 20 bucks. came with 2 speakers and had a CD plug in in back for a CD player. (I bought the single disc (Sony) CD player for 15 bucks from them also).stereo was priced at 39 bucks and cd player was priced at 32 bucks. I even got them to throw in 2 RCA cords to hook up the CD player for free (he had a drawer full of cords at the counter).
To both of the chuckle heads wanting to pawn crap so they can buy drugs or pay their wife's credit card bills:
my suggestion is L2HAGGLEBRO
(be nice about it and the longer u talk to them about prices the better the deal you get. they are people too and like being treated with a little common decency.)
on Saturday mornings, I often get bored and visit all the local pawn shops to check inventory and see what sells and what sits on their shelves for months not selling. this is how you can get your best deals. if u notice an item your interested in, don't act like you are. If it has been there for 4-5 visits or longer, make em an offer on it. chances are they will let it go cause they want to get rid of stuff that is sitting around collecting dust.
granted, not everything on their shelves is mint condition, so its up to the buyer to check items before leaving the store. (I like making only one trip to get things done.) also, just because you were stupid enough to pay retail on something doesn't mean that I want to.
J - maybe this will help you understand 22.5 cents on the dollar:
You pay $100.00 bucks RETAIL for an item. Pawn offers you $22.50 for the item as a pawn loan. For some reason (and this has been known to happen) you don't have the money in time to get the item back (redeem your loan in time) so now they can and have to sell the item to recoup their loss. They put a $45.00 price tag on it (cause technically its used and he's lucky if he can get that). Then I come in and haggle them down to $31.00 (cause I'm good like that). For his troubles, the pawn guy only makes $8.50, I got one HELL of a deal, and you still pay RETAIL for stuff?
