Over 100 Years--One of the earliest Alzheimer facilities, Mission Lodge was founded in 1903 by Joseph and Marion Teagle as a secure environment for "disoriented and wandering individuals" From the beggining, the founders instilled in thier staff a strong commitment to excellence in caring for thephysical, emotional, and spiritual needs of their guests. The facility was licensed by the State of California and became Mission Lodge in 1932. The last few years have seen physical additions and improvements to the facility, together with the organization of Support Groups, Independent Living, Assisted Living, Adult Day Care, and other programs designed to help those affected by memory impairment, including not only the resident, but also the family and the community. Mission Lodge will continue to evolve to meet challenges in the spirit of its founders, with the philosophy that caring makes the difference.
