Best

I recently visited one of my favorite reataurants in town to find the Menu had changed and there was booths! Pros: Food , Service, Atmosphere Cons: None Really

Worst

It's been a while since I was there last, but if memory serves, the food was the best thing Mirror had going for it. The atmosphere was pretty high on the old Poser Quotient, and...

Best Chef in Town! 11/26/2008

Oh my goodness, soooooo good!!! 7/27/2008

Wow! The tapas were so delicious! The wine, service, ambience, and food were all perfect! The restaurant is beautiful with a huge mirror collage on the wall and clean tables -- trendy, but not overdone. Our waiter was incredibly nice and helpful with recommendations. And, of course, the food was divine. Here's what we had and LOVED: Pros: The Tapas!!! Cons: N/A more

Great ambiance, strong drinks, and pretty good food 6/18/2008

This restaurant is really fun to go to with friends or a date. The service we had at least once was less than great. I asked the server her recommendation on how to order my meat (medium, rare etc.). She was rather short with me and not very helpful. Nonetheless, it was good food and a fun time. The drinks do tend to be very strong. The bartender is really fun and easy to converse with. more

should emphasize its best qualities 6/15/2008

This is a restaurant with so much potential! I've gone to several business dinners and have found the cocktails strong and the desserts delicious. Vegetarian options are limited, but what they have is decent. I would love it if the restaurant would play up these points and make the rest of the dining experience more...decadent. However, metal patio furniture indoors -- which I assume is an attempt at modern minimalist design -- falls short aesthetically and, more importantly, on a comfort level. Pros: good cocktails, decadent desserts Cons: small bar, trendy seating at the expense of comfort, limited vegetarian/vegan options more

great food, atmosphere and service 5/17/2008

i went here for my anniversary and it was a wonderful dinner. the tapas are amazing and the atmosphere is romantic without being too stuffy. the bar selection was great and they have really unique mixed drinks available. my server was wonderful and it was reasonably priced. i hope to come back soon! Pros: ambience, parking, service, drinks, food more

Not great. 3/10/2008

Granted, it was really snowy the night we went, so maybe the food/service/atmosphere was off because of that, but Mirror definitely did not live up to the reviews. The food was just so-so, nothing came out piping hot or tasted very fresh; we ordered the antipasti platter, and the prosciutto was spoiled! The crab cakes tasted frozen, the empanadas were terrible, and to top it all off, our server must have been bored so she kept butting into our conversation to make idiotic small talk. This place is not romantic in the least, the bar did not seem to be happening, and there was definitely not any people watching going on. We won't be back. Pros: Kind of cool looking, 12 South across the street is an awesome place! Cons: A lot...food, service, ambience more

Great Experience! 11/17/2007

5 of us were meeting in Nashville from various places (Knoxville, Louisville, Bowling Green, Nashville). Being the Nashvillian, I chose the restaurant. I picked Mirror, and I am SO glad I did. It had a cool looking interior, a pretty large, diverse menu, and the service was excellent. We had made a reservation, and the table was ready when we arrived (somewhere between 5 min early & on time), and they even had the waters waiting. I could tell our waters hadn't been there long because the ice was still fresh. That was nice. Our waiter was super helpful & friendly, without overdoing it. The our drinks came pretty fast, as did the food. The food was great. Two people ordered Large Plates, two people had two Small Plates, and one person just had one Small Plate. It was an enjoyable experience, and I definitely recommend it to anyone! Pros: diverse selection of tapas more

Good food...not romantic. 10/27/2007

After looking for a romantic and trendy restaurant, my husband and I decided to try Mirror for our anniversary. It was not what we were expecting. Although the food was quite good, the ambience was NOT what we had in mind. There were two parties on either side of us that I had to keep from bumping elbows with. To make the matter worse, there was an overhead light shining directly over my face. It would be a great place for friends and casual conversation. If you are looking for a nice quiet date spot, look for something else. Pros: Good food Cons: Not enough room more

Non-Smokers Beware 8/22/2007

Our server was lovely, and the food was good -- but I do have one complaint. When several people at the bar are smoking, given that there's no natural separation in the restaurant, you can smell the smoke regardless of how far away you are seated from the bar. The smell of smoke destroys the meal, and leaves clothes with an altered smell than when you entered. Mirror has a lovely patio outside. What's the harm in serving smokers outside? I know its hot, and as a former smoker I sympathize -- but not enough to patronize the restaurant again. more

Where Everybody Knows Your Name 7/27/2007

You should consider becoming a regular at Mirror Restaurant. Pros: Cool ambiance, innovative food Cons: Small room--can get smoky more

A secret gem! 6/1/2007

Shhhh...this is a great place. A hidden gem. Pros: Service, food, location, cocktails, food ( yes, I said food twice) Cons: smoking, and then more smoking more

Tapas? 5/21/2007

After hearing all of the hype, my now-husband (then-boyfriend) and I went to Mirror to try out the tapas (my favorite way to dine). Having had tapas at various placed in the country, I feel confident in saying that Mirror definitely does NOT serve tapas. 14 ""small plates"" does not a tapas menu make -- especially if only 1 or 2 of the dishes have any sort of Spanish influence whatsoever. The food was not that good, overpriced, and not that innovative. We never went back. more

Good food, great drinks - recommended 5/13/2007

Mirror is my favorite place to hang out with friends and relax with drinks and good food. I go a couple of nights a month, at least. It's a chill atmosphere with eclectic decor and dim lights. My favorite tapas plates are the trout spread (salty goodness) and mini grilled cheese with tomato soup sauce (cute and yummy). Favorite drink is the Jewel of the Tsars but the kefir vodka tonic is great, too. The wait staff is always cool, though sometimes a bit spacey. Prices are reasonable. Pros: atmosphere, perfect mix of food and drink, prices more

Pretty good 5/6/2007

I've been putting off going to this place for years but I finally broke down and went. Although I really enjoy tapas restaurants, I was mostly turned off by the lameness of the eat, drink, reflect logo and the close proximity of the tables. All in all the food was pretty good but not incredible. For two people I spent $40 on 7 tapas plates and dessert. Alchohol was very reasonably priced as well which is a plus since most smaller and fancier restaurants seriously jack up the alchohol prices. Ironically the dessert (key lime creme brulee - excellent) was bigger than any of the tapas plates. The tapas plates themsevelse from what I ordered seemed to be meant for two people as each plate typically only had two items on there. The service was great and it was pretty slow for a Saturday night. Its a great place if you want some variety as the tapas allows you to try some several items but if you're looking for a 3 course meal with bread this isn't the place. more

One of my favorite places to dine. I love the flavor filled food and beautiful decor. It is definately a wonderful first date place. more

unbelievable 3/6/2007

I'm not much on the ""restaurant scene"", so I spent a few hours looking at reviews on this site. It was my son's 24th birthday, and my wife and I wanted to take him and his fiancee and our daughter out for a nice meal. I intended to spend $150 or so, which in my book is quite a bit to spend for five meals. My son chose Mafioza's, but when we got there we realized it wasn't open (Monday). Since we drove quite a way, and were hungry, we decided to go to The Mirror. I remembered seeing a high rating for this restaurant on this site, so I figured that it was closer to what I was looking for in a restaurant, anyway, for the evening. I knew it was a limited menu, and a little pricey, but figured we'd find something we liked. I just don't understand the ""chef"" restaurants that are pricey and focus on the ""presentation"" of the meal. I don't mind spending a lot on a meal when it's a special occasion, and I don't mind spending $20+ on an entree, but it should include a salad, shouldn't it? How about bread? No, these are all things that are extra!!! OK, well that just tells me how great the entree is going to be. It's going to be HUGE, right? Great, because I'm starved by now. After all, I knew I was going to a nice restauant all day, so I haven't eaten much. Well, if it's true that America's restaurants are contributing to the obesity of Americans, it isn't because of restaurants like this one. I don't know why they use such big plates, because they don't even use over half of them. Oh, yeah, the ""presentation"" was nice, and the check was substantial ($150 like I'd figured earlier), but we all considered grabbing a hamburger on the way home, because there just wasn't much there. We aren't big people (my daughter is 100 lbs. soaking wet) and $150 can't fill us up??? Why can't restaurants like this have style AND substance? I call this ""unbelievable"" because I can't believe people actually come to this restaurant more than once. Once was too much for me. Pros: decent food Cons: tiny portions, pricey more

Great Staff! 3/4/2007

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food is great, and so is the service. It looks like the service gets some bad reviews here, but I felt that the staff was awesome when challenged by a task that is clearly not part of their usual routine. My boyfriend and I went on a Friday night, and had kind of an interesting request. On our way to the restaurant, we passed some kids who were throwing rocks at cars as they drove by. One got our car, and left a HUGE dent. We decided to call the police, since they were throwing them hard enough to really do some damage. Of course, we didn't know the non-emergency police number, so when we arrived at mirror, we asked for a table and the non-emergency police number. Yeah, we got funny looks but the hostess didn't miss a beat. She suggested some numbers that she thought it was and found a phone book and looked it up to be sure. The staff really went above and beyond to accomodate our unusual request and didn't quit until the police were called and I was impressed. The food is also great, especially the pita appetizer with the three dips, and they have some very unique specialty mixed drinks. Pros: Great Customer Service more

Great Tapas, Bad Attitudes 1/15/2007

The Tapas are really good and the drinks are always something different, they have a variety of summer and winter drinks and martini's. What is going on with the bartender and wait staff is beyond me! Everyone especially the owner has a sense of entitlement and comes off as rude and indifferent. I have been going there for 4 years, and I love the location and the drinks and the food but the people working there need to understand unless the tip is included alittle kindness goes a long way. Pros: Location, Tapas, deserts, drinks specials Cons: bartender, owner and wait staff more

Will Never Go Back. 1/12/2007

I took my husband and friends there for his 50th birthday party. Food was good. Some of our friends ordered ""Mojitos"". Those drinks were unacceptable and so they wanted to send back the drink and order a different type. Server refused!!! Requested to speak to manager, who ALSO REFUSED!!! What jerks! If you want to make your customers happy, exchange the friggin drink. more
