Minus Muffler-Full Service Garage & Towing

Dishonest and misleading,\r I was stranded several hours away from my home when my car broke down. I called my insurance company who in turn recommended Minus Muffler to tow my car to a nearby garage. While speaking to one of their employees, she mentioned that they also have a mechanic who could work on my car, so I agreed to have them tow it to their shop and do the diagnostic work. To make my story short, these people charged me for repairs on my vehicle when the motor and transmission needed replacement. The car was not going to run without a new motor or transmission, yet they did unnecessary work on it. Then they told me what the main issue was regarding the motor and transmission. They repaired my car to make close to $200 in unnecessary repairs. Please steer clear from this business as they will rip you off and give you inaccurate information about your vehicle. more

Never ever call this place for a tow unless you have money to burn. The quality of service and complete lack of professionalism should be looked at by the Better Business Bureau. Rude is the word that comes to mind when dealing with the Old Hag at the counter. It's a shame that this little town has so little to offer and the kids in school are stuck dealing with people of this low caliber. more

We were moving and as we were loading up our car to be put on the tow dolly my brakes locked up. I called up Minus who I had used in the past for my girlfriend's brakes and they towed us that night/afternoon (4:30 PM). We were scheduled to move early the next morning and they had my car done by 11:00AM so we only had to delay our move by a few hours. I would use again if for some reason I am ever stranded in Macomb. (I plan not to be back in Macomb in a long while unless it is for visiting friends) more

My brakes went out on me on my way back to Macomb . I took the car to Minus after I got a recomendation. The man I talked with Frank was a good guy explained to me everything that was wrong with the car and why it would need to be fixed. He seemed to care about me and the car. Quick service as well I took the car in without an appointment Monday and got it Tuesday by 11:00 A.M. I was called and updated on the progress of the car and what was wrong almost immediately after I took it in they were very helpful. more

Dropped off my car on Wednesday afternoon and it was all done on Friday morning. They were in communication with me when they diagnosed the problem, when they fixed my car, and when it was ready for pick up. I couldnt have asked for a better experience, and when I came in I got a full explanation of what was wrong, they showed my the old parts that were replaced, and how they fixed it. The price was reasonable, 80% of the total price was for parts alone. If you are looking for a spot in Macomb to get your car fixed, go to Minus (except tires, then go to Keisters). Definitely stay away from Car-X, thats another story... more

My son's car was running rough and he took it there. They replaced THREE sensors, plugs, wires, EGR valve and were ready to replace timing belt. Minor problem turned into $1640 scam and possibly more if they would have replaced a belt. They have no idea what they are doing. They may be good with mufflers but DO NOT let them make any other repairs. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. more

the word is that fake reviews have been made by owner and or employees using family members to make the fake reviews in effort to push the bad reviews lower on the review page so you dont see them without putting the effort in to look to the next page.look into it for yourself more

Came down for family weekend and my brakes went out someone at WIU recommended Minus had the work done great friendly service and good work and really enjoyed the employees. Pros: Diffent thumbs up! more

Daughter goes to school in Macomb and she needed some work done and Minus Muffler broke another part while fixing the part that we had problems with. Then they expected me to pay for the part that they broke! Owner became very belligerent on the phone and even called my daughter a ""Tramp"" and we had to get the police involved to resolve the bill. Very unprofessional!!! STAY AWAY!!! more

Recently had a car with disc brakes all around. Mechanic called and told me my rear calipers were frozen and both rear ones needed replaced. Not being very knowledgeable, I agreed and 600+ dollars later was back on the road. According to the mechanic at a Ford dealership in my town, he told me that the rear disc brakes on a Ford have to be turned in. The mechanic at Minus was trying to push them in with a C clamp. An expensive lesson I had to learn. Wish the mechanics at Minus would go back to school. Pros: Got the work done, brakes work Cons: Didn't have to buy new calipers if mechanic new what he was doing. more
