Awesome Experience 9/5/2005

I have dined at mint many times in the past. When I returned last week I was very impressed to see how strong this place is still going! An amazing patio on the 820 side, a hip clientele, and very attentive service. The food was delicious, with some unexpected twists to the latin side. I can highly recommend going there if you're looking to be away from the beaten path, or just looking to have a romantic dinner in a very swanky atmosphere. Pros: beautiful staff, great cocktails, outdoor seating Cons: can get crowded more

WASTE OF MONEY 5/5/2005

I went, and I ate, the worst food. I wrote a letter, what did I get back? Someone telling me I must be crazy instead of apologizing about the poor menu. I cannot help but think as I am eating a cold shrimp salad that tastes like previously frozen shrimp, that it is just that. Especially when an employee comes in with two large grocery bags from Trader Joes. Do not waste your time or money here, and if you do, only buy the drinks, they are the only good thing on the menu. Pros: drinks, ambience Cons: food, food, staff more

Judge by F&B alone. Haters take a hike. 4/14/2005

I simply review food, drink, and service. And all three are excellent at Mint. The menu is innovative, yet well-executed. A bonus is the modern, yet comfy, room. The critic who wrote about the muscled waiters and ""power yuppie san francisco lite"" is only showing his or her own insecurity. You don't know who any of these people are, and a restaurant has no control over who comes in, so why judge a place by the people you see and your assumptions about them? That's a waste of time. Just eat, please, and leave your class warfare outside. Pros: Good food, pretty room, Good service Cons: May evoke insecurity, in those who are, afraid of change more

A treasure !! 3/17/2005

Such a classic classy place: fantastic decor, remarkable menu and quality. Drink selection is truly a show stopper and/or AA membership passage: I'm going until I've tried all once. Meals are hearty and prepared with talent; not bar food like. Great location for business. Pros: Food & Drinks, Decor, Corner pillows Cons: can be noisy more

good deal 5/6/2004

Cool place, good food at a moderate price, and the best cocktails I've ever had. The Velvet knocked my NW berry lovin' socks off. This place rocks, and now it's on the new light rail line so you can hop aboard a yellow line train and dine at the coolest place in town. It has a patio so I'll be there a lot this summer. I loved that grilled heart of romaine dish - and normally I hate veggies. Pros: drinks!!!, food, ambience Cons: , slowish service more

Amazing Drinks! 4/6/2003

Oddest and yummiest drinks I've ever had, honest. Intimate date atmosphere or a nice place to get a drink w/close friends. Pros: Easy Parking, Creative cocktails, Intimate seating Cons: expensive more

power yuppie suv nightmare 1/21/2003

the drinks are delicious if you stick to their specialized cocktail menu. D-licious! order other than the drink list, though, and beware. the ceviche is mushy. their tenderloin is a tenderloin. the salad with calamari is very good, but not good enough to redeem the kitchen. the muscled waiter sure has a lot of muscles. the power yuppie suv nightmare clientele makes me want to die. maybe if these ""san francisco lite"" types weren't there i would like this place more. Pros: list drinks superb Cons: drive an suv?, eat here! more

Mint Condition 1/21/2003

With new bars popping up every day, it's hard to get to them all. This one is worth the trip, Once you find it. The servers know what they're doing, The kitchen puts out some mighty fine chow (Try the corn dusted calamari), and the bartenders make supurb drinks. It's worth the trip to the other side of the river. Pros: dark, quiet Cons: hard to find more

Class in a Glass 1/16/2003

Well, I've enjoyed some great food and cocktails in PDX, but Mint blew me away. Intimate and friendly I found it refreshing and exciting. Of the five drinks I tried (whoops) the Bella was my favourite. Foodwise the pork loin was incredible. YOu must try it if you've not been, you'll be glad you did. Cannot wait until next time. Pros: Food, Cocktails, Ambience Cons: Can get busy more

Yummy Beverages 1/7/2003

So I am a Rosbust Red Wine drinker but had to come here after reading the Oregonian Article a couple of weeks ago. The bar is a little on the cramped side (so go on a weeknight) and the bartendar was not exactly the most friendly thing on the earth, but the MIXED DRINKS were FABO. I am not one for mixed drinks but ""Fresh"" and ""Mint"" are must haves. Cannot wait until I get the chance to have dinner! All I have to say is DO NOT COMPARE THIS TO THE SAUCEBOX!!!! This is 1000 times better. Pros: Great Drinks, Fun Atmosphere Cons: Cramped, crowded more

Bella! Bella! Bella! 8/18/2002

I encourage, no, I demand that you visit this restaurant and at the very least, order a Bella. It's a blackberry drink that is so delicious, I had two! Calories be damned! I continued with the salmon crepes, the dish of the day, and indeed they were delicious. The restaurant is indeed having some growing pains, but if you're patient waiting for your food, you won't mind. Reservations are definitely recommended, the place was packed all night! Pros: excellent drinks, fabulous food, attentive manager more

Like Saucebox...only better 6/4/2002

Good food...too bad most of the entree portions are more like an appetizers. A bit overpriced, but the drinks are excellent. . Pros: Good Food, Great Drinks Cons: Small Portions, Bit overpriced more

Good frou-frou drinks 5/21/2002

I haven't eaten here (except for the roasted pumpkin seeds, which I loved), but the cocktails are excellent. Spendy, but they sure are easy to knock back. Try to score a table in the one of the window seats, with the plush pillows. I hear the food is great--it's definitely on my list of places to try. Pros: great cocktails more
