i saw this national award and about crapped out the crappy burgers that i ate at miller's bar. a friend had recommended this ""bar"" to me and promised satisfaction. the burgers...

Don't understand the hype 10/6/2003

Don't get me wrong, I thought that the burgers were OK, but I just don't understand how people think this is one of the best burger places. IMHO, a slightly above average bar burger. more

I think the burgers are overated. Thay have been downsized from the past. The service is poor. I could not get waited on to get a second beer because the waitresses were to busy talking to each other. I have not been back. more

Decent but not the best 7/13/2003

I just moved to Detroit and heard all about Millers. It is ok but the best burger in the US..not even in Detroit. Not even close. If you are ever in Cleveland, checkout Skyway or Swensons. Now those are burgers. If Miller's got some decent waitresses with no attitude, then it might be worth it. And drag that burger through the garden, a little lettuce and tomato never hurt anyone! Millers was the best in the 60's it's days as the best are made from menory not fact. The service is rushed and only the regularsare treated with any service at all. It is average at best. How can anyone rate this as the best ? more

It's your basic hard living, hard drinking kind of place. It's not for the faint of heart (literally) because those burgers are oozing with fat and juices. No pretenses, no excuses. Just good eatin'. more

Crybabies go elsewhere 2/9/2003

I see that some of the reviewers aren't happy about grease and wax paper and ambiance. Jeez! Stay at home and eat turkey burgers then, you crybabies. Sure...Millers is just a little hole-in-the-wall corner bar with average service, but they serve the best cheeseburger you will EVER find - ANYWHERE. Oh, and by the way...cheeseburgers are supposed to have grease. That's what makes 'em taste good. If you're uncomfortable with that, stick to rice cakes. Pros: Unbelievable burger, Honor system, Old-time feeling Cons: Crowded. Wonder why? more

Not the same as it was. 1/13/2003

The old cooks are gone, so is the prime hand packed burgers they used to use, the frozen burgers discs they use now are OK but not worth the high price. The help is surly at best and often rude. It's sad to see a once mighty and glorious buger heaven sick to mediocrity. Reputation alone keeps them in business I bet they don't last another five years. more

Holy Cow... OVERRATED! 1/3/2003

I'm a sucker for a good burger. When I found Miller's to be rated #1 burger in Michigan (and high nationwide), I decided to try drive the 30 miles to check it out. I was dissappointed.. maybe I was expecting too much. They serve only 4 food items... Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Fries, Onion rings. All Burgers/Cheeseburgers come plain. You can add Ketchup, Mustard, Pickles and Onions... THAT""S IT. No plates... everything served on wax paper. I just don't understand all the hype. The burger itself is not bad... but certainly nothing to write home about. I prefer Red Robins. I'll be trying some of the other burger joints on the top 10 list and report back. What a find! If you want the best Cheeseburger, this is the place to go! Go early, because the seats fill up fast! Service is kind of slow, but the burgers are great, and the beer is cold! It's also a nice clean bar, that you could take kids into with no problem! Pros: Inexpensive, Cold Beer, Great Cheeseburgers Cons: Servers are slow, Small Parking area, Crowded after 5pm more

Not bad - but it's no RED COAT! 12/19/2002

I have lived in Detroit my whole life and had always heard about the ""amazing"" burgers from Miller's in Dearborn and how they are so much better than those at Red Coat. After recently moving this year, I decided to try out the place and make my own conclusion. No denying it, the burgers are great - but they didn't quite live up to the hype. I think this place is great and would recommend it to anyone for it's quick service, tasty burgers, wonderful staff, and local flavor, but if rated on burgers alone...it doesn't compare to the quality of meat, variety, and flavor of a Red Coat burger. This bar is amazing, I look forward to coming here for dinner after getting my haircut. The hamburgers are amazing, and I can't even think of another restaurant that can even be compared. Superb burgers if you are a purist. Great gound meat, cheese melted just right on fresh buns. Forget the the plates, the waxed paper is just functional and doesn't detract from the food. i saw this national award and about crapped out the crappy burgers that i ate at miller's bar. a friend had recommended this ""bar"" to me and promised satisfaction. the burgers were average. the restaurant was cramped and unflattering. no music, no nothing. all you can hear was the old person next to you talking about bingo which made me realize that this place is more like a bingo hall than a bar. i had hoped the burgers were good enough to made me forget about the uncomfortable seating, but i was disappointed. the buns were soft and they were somewhat tasty, but the burgers weren't anything special. if you want a good burger and a setting with a little more character head about an hour up I-75 and go to Angelo's Coney Island in Flint. Even Halo Burger would put Miller's to shame!! Pros: service Cons: food more

Voting seems rigged 10/27/2002

The voting must be rigged ... while Miller's does have some decent burgers, it seems a little stone age to me that I have to remember what I ordered every time I go there. The service is definitely not the best, and the bar itself is stuck in another time with tiny tables and terrible atmosphere. They don't even have plates! Burgers are served on wax paper ... definitely NOT a place to take a date worth more than a dollar. Pros: Decent food, none, none Cons: Payment system, Wax paper for plates, Boring atmosphere more
