As the wife of a serious coffee addict I've had the chance to sample dozens of coffee places in town. Mill Mountain offers the best coffee, bar none. They roast their beans on-site, so if you want fresh roast for home or work (and a true addict will drink none other) this is the place to go. They offer a full line of coffee drinks, plus a wide selection of teas and other beverages (they make great hot chocolate). They also carry sandwiches, soups, and desserts, including a small selection of ice cream, as well as a small display of beverage-related gift items.
Seating is crowded, especially during peak times, but mid-afternoon or late in the evening it's a pleasant place for a quick date. Their prices are reasonable and their staff is generally competent, though they occasionally seem somewhat frazzled (is it possible to avoid that at a coffee shop?). Parking is not the best but it's free and I've never been unable to find a space. After trying Mill Mountain I don't know why anyone would go back to the chain-restaurant coffee shops!
