Mike's Repair

I needed to replace my air conditioner compressor and took it to Mike's to get an estimate. He quoted me $700 for the compressor, $185 for the accumulator/drier, $185 to discharge and refill with coolant. With labor the total was $1250. \r \r I went home and found the exact same OEM compressor for $465 and the drier for $55. I was quoted $150 labor at a competing shop, including the discharge/recharge. $670 for the same work. I expect to pay a little more when buying parts through the repair shop but it's obvious to me that Mike's saw me as a one time customer and decided to make it all in one repair rather than working to gain a repeat customer. I won't return and suggest, if you do want to use them, you get competing bids first. more

My car was overheating when I got to St. Cloud at 6:00 am so I stopped at BP, they told me to wait for Mike to get there at 7:00. As soon as he got there he took my car right into the shop and ordered the parts right away, they put them in and I was on my way home for another three hour drive with no problems.
