The Food
Lacquered bento boxes come with chicken teriyaki, veggie tempura and so forth, and the sushi chefs' nigiri fingers and maki are nicely shaped and rolled, and heavy on the wasabi. Mikasa (formerly known as Bonsai) serves miso that's life-sustaining--it's got everything: crunchy scallions, briny swirls of seaweed, velvety cubes of tofu and a savory white shinshu broth.
The Scene
The sophistication of the airy, simple interior makes the high prices a little easier to stomach. And like its neighbor, Cafe Borrone, Mikasa showcases the allure of dining al fresco.
