great experience! 6/15/2009

This was a gift i got for mine and my boyfriend's 1 year anniversary. it was much better than expected. we lucked out with a small class of 9 where we were broken up in teams and everyone got to learn how to cook all the food and was able to cook something themselves. the food was delicious and Chef Paul was great; funny, smart, and taught us many useful techniques. not only was the food great but the experience was priceless. we left satisfied and full of good food and good knowledge! i would definitely go back another time and i HIGHLY recommend to anyone, male or female, any age! Pros: good food, great chef, great experience! Cons: can't think of any! more

The best bachlorette party EVER!! 3/4/2009

We decided to hold my daughter's bachlorette party at Miette and what a perfect decision it was!! Chef Paul and his team showed us a wonderful time, not to mention the fact that we had a FABULOUS meal. Our group ranged in age from early 20's to early 60's, and ranged in ability from expert cook to novice, but we all had a GREAT time learning about everything from chicken and mushrooms to homemade vanilla extract and vinegar. Chef Paul is a GREAT teacher, patient, fun and interesting. Thank you to Miette and Company for giving us a truly memorable evening. Pros: perfect in every way more

Fantastic eductational AND gastronomic experience! 6/27/2007

A great way to get together with good friends and share a useful learning experience and a great meal. Clear, simple instructions are given by the knowledgeable staff, and questions are encouraged. Learned a ton about what to look for in your ingredients and at restaurants. And of course the best part is getting to enjoy the fruits of your labor at the end at the large table in the beautiful dinning area. Pros: location, the chef! more

Miette offers an unusual evening out with friends (or a place to meet new friends) where the mystique of preparing fine cuisine is transformed into an engaging and instructive festivity. I attended classes with sommelier and wine included, and I have to say, peeling potatoes and snapping beans have never been this much fun. As an alternative to cramming a dinner party into your tiny studio apartment, everyone walks away with a sense of accomplishment and comeraderie, and no mess to clean up! more

An amazing evening for friends to get together! 5/8/2006

I have spent several evenings with friends at Miette. Its a great way to get together with friends. So much fun learning how to prepare amazing foods and what wines to serve with them. My friends and I were so happy, and I cant say enough about the talents there. The chef, Paul showed us how to prepare delicious foods with such ease. With the wine, it doesnt get any better than this! Pros: well priced, creative, yummy more

Children LOVE chocolate 5/1/2006

Our children had a fantastic time in this small apartment like, professional learning environment. The staff engaged both the little ones (6) and the older one (12) and they all still talk about it! We have tried a couple of other classes with equal success and recommend it very highly. The small class sizes are the biggest benefit. Pros: Small, Professional, Fun more

The best cooking school in New York 2/14/2006

From the moment you walk in the door of the Miette Culinary Studio you can tell that you are in for a fantastic experience. The space is intimate and cozy and the chefs are welcoming. The cooking lesson was fantastic - everyone was given something to do and the chef gave clear and thoughtful instruction. The meal we all made was fantastic and I loved the fact that we got to sit together and eat what we made. I recommend Miette to all students of all levels. more

Amazing! 5/17/2004

A great Village location, a friendly and extremely knowledgeable chef, a great facility, and an all-around enjoyable educational experience! My class was small (3 people and the chef) so we all got to participate in all aspects of preparing the meal. Its a relaxed social experience similiar to preparing dinner with friends. I do a fair amount of cooking and I learned a good amount without feeling like I was being put to work in a restaurant kitchen. The meal was delicious, the wine perfect and the company was truly enjoyable. Pros: Food, Chef, Price more

Owner Message
  • If you have a passion for food and a willingness to learn, Miette is just the place for you. Miette offers cooking classes with an emphasis on French technique and "cream of the crop" fresh seasonal farmers' produce. We also offer specialized classes in Indian cooking.

Classes are held in our charming, intimate and light-filled 19th Century townhouse located in Greenwich Village near Washington Square. Our chef, Paul Vandewoude, a classically trained Belgian chef, formerly of the original Le Zinc, as well as restaurants Tartine and Titou in the West Village, teaches professional techniques and shares his most popular recipes. What better way for participants to meet than acquiring cooking skills while sipping a glass of wine, then sitting down and savoring the evening's delectable preparation sitting around a candle lit table.
