called them yesterday (Aug 17,09) and asked them how much to clean a sensor. I told them I had a spot that wouldn't come off, I had tried to clean it wet and dry, and I was pretty sure something was lodged under the glass. They quoted me $65. I know what it costs to repair cameras, and that seemed low, so I questioned her, telling her again I thought it was under the glass, and she said yes, it would be $65. Needless to say, I made the 45 minute drive that day. When I got there, they took my camera in back, and about 10 minutes later a different woman came out and told me I had something under the glass (duh!) and it would be a major repair, costing $180. I told her what I was quoted, and that I told them up front what the problem was. She simply said ""Well, it's a major repair. He's not gonna fix it for $65."" No apology, no nothing.
I've worked for a major camera retailer for over 20 years, and up to this point we had sent them a LOT of business. First thing I did when I got to work is pulled their card out of my Rolodex. I will no longer recommend them, and if customers ask, I will tell them to steer clear.
Needles to say, I will never be going back, either. I'll deal with pros from now on.
Cons: plenty
