Middleton Realty, Inc is one of the worst companies I have ever done business with. The majority of my interaction with Middleton Realty has been with property manager Caryn Thomas, whose lack of professionalism has been baffling since the beginning of the lease signing process. The list of reasons for my dissatisfaction with Middleton Realty is long.
When the first month’s rent was paid, we were provided with one key to the house, and no key to the mailbox. When I went to the Middleton Office to pick up the mailbox key several days later I asked if it would be possible to get a second key to the house. “Make a copy of the key you have,” is what I was told. I asked to speak with the property manager that we had been working with, Caryn Thomas, and I asked her if it would be possible to “please” have a second key. She told me, “no, you can make a copy.” I asked Caryn if it was typical for the company to provide only one key with rental units and she told me, “it depends.” I’ve rented about a dozen apartments and houses in my time, and never have I been provided with only one key.
Prior to visiting the Middleton Realty office to pick up the mailbox key that was not provided to us at the time of move in, my sole interaction with Caryn Thomas was via email. It struck me as odd that someone I was doing business with did not use the words “please” or “thank you” in email exchanges. When I met Caryn in person, I asked her if she ever uses these words and she informed me, “No, they are not needed in business email.” I then questioned Caryn, “so, you don’t believe that your clients deserve a ‘thanks?’” Caryn corrected me, “well, you are not a client, you are a customer.” Apparently if you rent a house from Middleton Realty you are a “customer” and Middleton Realty does not feel the need to thank “customers” for their business.
Beyond the lack of professionalism displayed by the property manager, there are more reason that I am not happy with Middleton Realty. The property manager insisted the house was professionally cleaned, but at the time of move in, there was an abundance of cat hair throughout the house and food pieces on the pantry floor.
The list goes on, and on.
I strongly encourage anybody that is considering dealing with Middleton Realty to keep looking. This company is terrible.
