They show good indy flicks. 8/18/2005

When I was a freshman at U of M, ,I used to go to this place with the kids who lived in my dorm hall at least twice a week, mostly out of convenience and short walking distance. However, as I grew and my tastes broadened, I found that this theater hosts a number of different events that aren’t limited to just movies. It’s not expensive and will show very independent movies which is refreshing. more

Michigan Theater 8/18/2005

This theater is pretty good. You can see some major movies there, but it also features its fair share of arthouse flicks. The seats are a bit cramped at times, and the refreshments leave much to be desired. That said, this is a fantastic place to brush up on all the films you slept through during film class. more

Never disappointed 8/12/2005

The Michigan Theater of Ann Arbor is a wonderful place to go and have a good time while watching non-mainstream movies. The theater is not limited to just movies though; they also host stand up comedy and concerts. I have never gone to the Michigan Theater and been disappointed, every show is top notch and reasonably priced though the seats leave something to be desired. more

New Movies in a Classic Setting 8/10/2005

The Michigan Theater is a fun place to go and see a movie. In this classic theater where live theatrical performances are still held, movies are shown on a big screen that covers the length of the stage. While the theater does not have stadium seating like newer theaters, you can hear live music before the show while an organist plays music and you have your choice of seats as there is an upper balcony perfect for viewing the movie. With an old fashion ticket booth up front, this theater is a piece of history but still shows the newest movies and many of the artsy films you can't find at area chains. It's a great place to catch a flick without having to leave the heart of campus. more

Good Theater 8/3/2005

During the Ann Arbor Film Festival, this place houses a few specialty movies that always hit it big whether it be in some cult fashion or a real film circuit. The admission prices are decent, and they have very nice seats and screens. People love the Michigan Theater because it is in a great location and is frequented by students often. more

Michigan Theater 7/23/2005

This is a wonderful, classic, old, theater. The decor is just beautiful and the sound is wonderful as well, i've seen a couple concerts here and it is quaint and easy in, easy out. There is a parking garage right around the corner and lots of places to eat close by. Popcorn and refreshments served. more
