I went to Miami for my undergrad, and I agree with sparklingchaos..I have never experienced such a conformist, homogenous atmosphere as Miami U. The classes are quite good for a state school, but socially, it's a cookie cutter factory! I came from DC and went to Miami because my parents got jobs there, otherwise, I never would have gone. Oxford is a cow town in the middle of nowhere, and there is absolutely nothing to do on weekends. If you're from a city, it's a pretty rough transition.
As for social environment, the students are mostly well-off boring kids from the Ohio suburbs, who have absolutely no perspective and are pretty parochial and unsophisticated(never traveled, never met a black person before, never had ethnic food, etc). Everyone looks the same and the girls all dye their hair blond..it's hard to tell the difference between Katie, Jen and Lauren.
The good news? If you're a brunette, you'll get lots of attention here. If you're in any way ethnic, you'll get TONS of attention. I don't think I will ever feel so special as I did at Miami, lol.
Overall, decent classes, but weak student body, both socially and intellectually (Miami is now accepting students at 80%, so they're not exactly attracting Ohio's brightest and finest).
