Mi Ranchito Cocina & Cantina

Finally, a real local Mexican food joint that doesn't make you wish you'd just eaten at Taco Bell. Mi Ranchito has blown up in the JoCo area in the last couple of years because they dish up GREAT Mexican food. Everything is great - Carne Asada, Chili Verde, and the folks I hang with like the fish tacos (which I can't explain). The great thing about Mi Ranchito - that distinguishes it from Jose Peppers and Jalapenos, for example - is the authenticity of flavor and ingredients. Other restaurants taste like they were making food for Kansas Citians. Mi Ranchito tastes like it was made by Mexicans for Mexicans and we just get to party along with them. I won't eat at any other place but Mi Ranchito. And yes, get there early!!!!! more

This is a wonderful place to dine in or drive-thru. There are Mi Ranchito's all over JO, but this one is unique because it is a drive-thru, and they will make anything that the restaurants make in a fraction of the time. The wait may be a bit longer than say, Taco Bell, at the drive-thru, but it is worth it for restaurant style food, and good quality at that! Customer service is very important, and so far, they have gone above and beyond many joints like this. The manager really seems to care a lot, and once even walked out of the restaurant to the drive-thru and was kindly willing to assist us on our order. If you dine in, the manager may ask you how you liked your food, and that is very important. \r \r So far, my favorite dish is the fajita burrito, made with steak. It is probably the best burrito I have ever had, especially if you get it with the spinach cheese sauce on it. It tasted best when we had the meat slightly rare. But after a few bites, you can usually tell that they put a lot of care into preparation - more than some of their restaurant counterparts that I have been to. Their sauces are also wonderful, and when you dine in they bring you basket after basket of chips. Be careful, or you may not have room for your meal. \r \r They deserve 5 stars for how hard they work, and the quality of food. And there are other Mi Ranchito's that aren't this good that are sit down only where you tip.
