Mi Nail Salon

It feels like playing russian roulette whenever I go to Mi Nail Salon for a haircut. Half the time it comes out great, but the other half the time my bang just gets chopped off when I specifically ask to leave my bangs relatively untouched. When that happens I can feel the stylist hurry and put some product on my hair. I know this because when it comes out ok, the stylist ASKS if I want any product. Whenever I feel that one cut that chops something off that I didn't want chopped off, the stylist immediately reaches for some product and just covers his mistake. The moment I come home and wash the product away, it's very obvious my bang is just... ugly.\r \r I also got a wet T-shirt competition today while getting shampoo'ed. An ""assistant"" shampoo'ed me, and it was very obvious he's never shampoo'ed anyone before. He first wet my hair with ice cold water, then proceeded to spray all over my face and my shirt (through the gown). He started apologizing, and I told him it's ok, only to be repeated the second time (this time with very hot water. When he was massaging my head, it felt like he was trying to pull my hair out. \r \r Honestly, when the stylist pays attention and really cuts the hair, it comes out great, but if there's a person waiting for a haircut behind you... you better pray... It's very obvious the stylist tries to rush your hair cut so he can get to the next person.\r \r This is not meant to be a negative comment; just a realistic comment. Just very frustrating when the result is very inconsistent each time I get a cut here. more

I just went to have my nails done, and I am sooo pleased with the look. Plus, the service was impeccable and friendly. I cannot wait until my next appointment. The gel polish look is fabulous and I love. more

Kiem is by far the best stylist in Indianapolis. I moved to Indy from the east coast and searched for a long time for a stylist who could actually cut, color, and style my thick hair, and I am so thankful to have found Kiem. He takes his time consulting with me before he even begins the process. The results are always unbelievable and I always receive compliments on my hair. \r The salon is beautiful, inviting, and very clean. The atmosphere is relaxing and cozy. Stop wasting your time and money!! We have the best of the best right here in Indianapolis. I have thick, course, mousy-brown hair - or at least I did until Kiem got his hands on it! The way he cuts my hair is unlike anyone else I've known and the results constantly astound me! My hair is silky, manageable and beautifully layered. Kiem also recently converted my look to ""strawberry blonde"" and I can honestly say that it is the most beautiful color I have ever seen on my or anyone else's hair! Seriously, I am even in the process of getting physically fit because I want the rest of my body to be as attractive as the top of my head! i am convinced kiem is the only stylist in indiana who knows how to cut ASIAN hair (it's not a myth). i was worried to see when i moved here for school that the only salons around were these ""supercuts"" derivatives, staffed with these miss piggy lookalikes with even tackier haircuts. more

Not only is Kiem very talented with both cut and color, he has developed a 'spa-like' experience to having your hair done! From the hair treatments to the wonderful scalp massage to the comfortable chairs, it is all about relaxation while receiving one of the best cuts and colors I have had. more

I have a friend who recently discovered Kiem on the internet and scheduled an appointment. After talking with her, I decided to ""jump out of the box"" and set up an appointment as well for a cut and highlights. The salon experience was exceptional! Kiem did a wonderful job cutting and highlighting my hair. I have received so many compliments. It is the best haircut I have ever had!! I have a friend who has been going to Kiem for a long time now and says he is the only one she will let cut her hair. She noticed that I was in need of a haircut and set up an appointment for me with Kiem. I let him cut my hair a few weeks ago and it was the best haircut I have ever had. Not only did he cut it exactly the way I wanted him to, but he also styled it nicely. I really enjoyed getting my hair cut by him. The way he washed and brushed and clipped my hair truly felt like heaven. I walked out of the salon saying ""Holy fuck, that was the best haircut I've ever had."" more

I've been going to Kiem for close to 2 years now, and I've never left disappointed - other than being disappointed that I have nowhere to go to show off my hair :) I had some disastrous bleach blonde highlights that Kiem helped blend into my natural hair color perfectly. I'm a poor grad student at the moment, but I am happy to splurge on a haircut by Kiem. Highly recommended. more

By far the best stylist I have come across. He is the real deal, extremely talented and very knowledgeable. I am always learning something new when I sit down in his chair and I love the time and attention he spends on detail. I have very thick hair and no one has ever cut my hair as precise. He is constantly taking classes and looking for ways to take it to the next level, grow and be on the cutting edge. Very professional and as a hairstylist myself outside of Indy, I could easily cut my own hair or have it done at my salon at no cost, but he is worth every penny and the 30 min, drive! I really look up to him, his passion, and talents. Diamond in the rough for sure, You will REALLY be missing out if you pass this up!!! more

Ok I can't say enough about how many compliments I receive after I started going to Kiem! I discovered Kiem when I was complimenting a colleague on her hairstyle and she told me about Kiem. He listens and is willing to be creative and provide chic stylish options that work. If you are tired of the same old you must try Kiem. I first had my hair done by Kiem back in 2010, I was working at a restaurant he and the other stylists (where he worked at the time) would sometimes go to for lunch. He gave me a card and insisted I let him work with my hair. I had actually just got my hair done and was already planning to stay with another stylist... none the less I decided to go to Kiem to get my hair cut and colored about a month or two later since a friends wedding was coming up. You could say it was fate I guess. Having your hair done by Kiem is likely going to be an entirely different experience for you especially in Indy. He listens to what you have to say, what you like and don't like, looks at your skin tone, eye color, facial structure, and creates the proper hairstyle that will most effectively complete your look at whatever time in your life. My first pixie cut by Kiem was not only perfect, but the whole experience really stuck with me. Including how he showed me the step by step of how to style it ...twice. Which is something no other stylist had ever really bothered to do even when you would ask them or say that ever so familiar ""I can't get it to look the same."" So after going to Kiem once, I decided I wouldn't be going anywhere else. You don't really want to go anywhere else when you have found the best. So for a long while I hadn't bothered getting my hair done due to the lack of money and I had decided to grow my hair out anyway, but I had a graduation coming up and decided to get some type of style to work with the graduation cap (best as it could.) You can imagine how I felt when I discovered Kiem was no longer working at the same salon and they said to have no information on where he went. However! Through the great powers of Google I was able to find him with his new home at 7th Sky Salon. A sigh of relief ( =3=) .oO In other words he is someone worth tracking down. The kind of gem you find and don't want to lose. Well I have now had both short and medium length cuts done by Kiem, as well as my graduation cap style, all perfect, flawless, fitting, ect. I generally will just give him broad ideas and let him do whatever he comes up with. So if you're someone who never really knows what they want he can surely figure it out. With my most recent cut and color it really made a difference. My hair is an inch or two past the shoulders now and although he trimmed it, the hair ended up looking even longer and more dimensional with how he colored it. Amazing. \(o.o)/ All of this said, I've recommended Kiem to friends, family, strangers, and now I'll recommend him to anyone else who reads this. Before going to Kiem, I was with the same stylist for almost 20 yrs..I know, unbelievable, but I really liked him and I was happy...I thought. Then I was ready for a change and needed a new set of eyes. I have very straight, fine hair and Kiem has taken my look to a WHOLE new level! I now have highlights, soft layers and can still pull my hair back in a pony or up for a totally different look. My hair has never felt in better condition and I feel I look better than ever! Since moving to Indy, I struggled to find a good hairstylist that listened to my needs and provided a cut that looked good. I have fine, wavy hair, and it is often difficult to make my hair look thick and healthy. Many places I would go to would convince me that layers were the way to go, only to find that all the layering left my hair even more limp and thin! Then, I found Kiem. He specializes in fine hair. With every visit, he listens to what you want and makes a recommendation based on his experience, your face shape, and the look you are seeking. Instead of layering, he uses various techniques that ultimately leave my hair looking thick and healthy. He also shows you how to recreate the look, which is a big plus for those of us that love the ""just visited the salon"" look, but find once home, we can't come close to replicating! Kiem is a great stylist and he is the only one I trust. If you have difficult hair, and find you are not satisfied with your current salon, or if you are just looking for a change, I highly recommend Kiem. The new location at 7th Sky is also easy access, and I am in and out within in a hour for a great haircut. Kiem never keeps me waiting. He's respectful, friendly, and provides a fabulous haircut. I will continue to go to Kiem at 7th Sky for years to come! more
