As someone who's eaten at almost every Mexican restaurant in the Triangle, I'm sad to say there isn't much difference between most of them. Can anyone honestly tell the difference between El Dorado and El Rodeo? Las Margararitas and Los Arados and Las Palmas? Torero's used to have INSANELY good salsa and slightly different dishes, but suddenly it turned into the same restaurant as the ones mentioned above.\r

But Mi Barrio beats them all easily - good, AUTHENTIC Mexican food, huge portions, and delicious salsa. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but if you're feeling adventurous, I'd recommend the stomach(!) tacos - sounds gross but it's the tastiest meal I've had in a while. NOTE: don't be turned off by the outside - the exterior is ROUGH. In fact, the first time I went there my friend refused to go inside b/c it just looked too rundown. After I read some positive reviews I forced him to go back and he agreed Mi Barrio is definitely the best Mexican in the Triangle.
Pros: Delicious food, huge portions, wonderful salsa, friendly service, cheap price
Cons: Intimidating location
