It is absolutely the best Mexican food around. This is our young daughter's favorite restaurant. She always has the chicken fajitas and I know the salsa is so healthy for her. ...

Decent food 4/29/2010

Ever wonder why people rate all Mexican restaurants that are not fast food joints as ""best mexican ever""? Ok, it's not Taco Bell, which means its good. Certinaly not the best. Their home made salsa, EXCELLENT. Chicken Fajita Burrito, AWESOME. But come on. The location says it all. First thing you notice is the place feels ""dirty"". And the smell. Sometimes it kind of smells moldy. I would describe other smells, but I don't want to stray you away from there. I've eaten there 5 times, and each time I had good service, a great meal, and left satisfied. If you're close by, give it a try. I wouldn't travel far for it, but it's a nice local little mexican place.. Just need to get past the musty smell. Pros: Good food Cons: Strange smell more

The Best Mexican food, not fancy 12/26/2008

The best chile verde east of Bakersfield. The chicken en mole is tremendous. Very friendly, and never a problem. They sell Mexican CDs, a tremendous chance to learn the difference between Norteo and Duranguense.\r Friday evenings, big groups of working men come to celebrate the end of the week.. always courteous. more

Best Mexican in the Triangle 8/27/2008

As someone who's eaten at almost every Mexican restaurant in the Triangle, I'm sad to say there isn't much difference between most of them. Can anyone honestly tell the difference between El Dorado and El Rodeo? Las Margararitas and Los Arados and Las Palmas? Torero's used to have INSANELY good salsa and slightly different dishes, but suddenly it turned into the same restaurant as the ones mentioned above.\r \r But Mi Barrio beats them all easily - good, AUTHENTIC Mexican food, huge portions, and delicious salsa. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but if you're feeling adventurous, I'd recommend the stomach(!) tacos - sounds gross but it's the tastiest meal I've had in a while. NOTE: don't be turned off by the outside - the exterior is ROUGH. In fact, the first time I went there my friend refused to go inside b/c it just looked too rundown. After I read some positive reviews I forced him to go back and he agreed Mi Barrio is definitely the best Mexican in the Triangle. Pros: Delicious food, huge portions, wonderful salsa, friendly service, cheap price Cons: Intimidating location more

Mi Barrio - GREAT Mexican Food 8/17/2005

This place looks like a dump from the outside. It is a dumpy old shopping center - I think Mi Barrio was formerly a tanning salon. But they have the VERY best Mexican food. I use it ""to go"" and it amazing how much great Mexican food you can get for not much money. These people really don't speak English, and most of the customers are Mexican. That's what makes it unique. The food is the best. If you are going to ""dine in"" be prepared to watch a spanish language TV show on the TV. Their salsa's are great. Pros: authentic, chips and salsa, enchiladas Cons: dumpy location, get an interpreter more
