If you & your friend(s) like The Metro, its areally nice place to go Saturday nights. If you don't like The Metro, you are always welcome to go to Masqurade,Ampersand,Republic,Goldmine or Buorbon Street. Pros: 2 sometimes 3 dance floors,3-5 bars and really nice club/bar Cons: None unless you get into a fight and get kicked out more

The best club in New Orleans but... 3/22/2007

Metro is Saturday only, 21+, $10 cover charge, and plays mainly hip/hop and top 40 with some dance. There are two rooms (usually one is full of asians and the other for everyone else). It usually starts getting crowded around midnight. Dress code is somewhat strict: guys need a collar shirt and no sneakers. I have one main problem with Metro: the bouncers. I understand that Metro wants to keep their upscale image and keep a strict dress code and that is fine, but sometimes they can be way too picky. It almost makes you feel like you are going to middle school and the teachers are checking to see if you are inline with the dress code. I have seen people not get in because they have one penny size rip in their jeans or the bottom of the jeans are cut to fit around the sheos. I have also seen a girl who was wearing flat shoes that looked similar to flip-flops not get in. Basically, the dress code gets stricter as the club gets more crowded. My second complaint about the bouncers is that they are always trying to make some extra money. "You might be able to get in with those shoes if you help us out" or something like that. Maybe Metro needs to pay them more. Pros: Music, atmosphere Cons: bouncers more

If you are in New Orleans, It's a must! 1/24/2007

My friend and I went to New Orleans to party for the weekend, we were both a first timer there. When we were asking people where to go at night everyone suggested "metro". We got there early around 10 after seeing all the people partying already on Burboun St. This was big mistake. They were not opened yet and we saw them setting up the place. they kept telling us in 10 minutes, so we ended up going to the hotel near by and hanged out alittle. We finally made it and there was a 10$ cover charge and boy it was worth it. Drinks' prices were average and the music was just amaizng. around 12 it got very packed but in a good way. Everyone was nicley dressed up and having fun with the great music played. Pros: Great Music, not very expenssive more

Worth the search 1/20/2007

This is the only place I actually felt like spending money in a long time. Me and my friend got there early (10:00) but decided to go ahead and hang out for a bit. I was very glad I did. The customers were just there to have a good time. The staff was very polite and responsive. The women are tasteful and attractive. The men are mature and fun to be around. No fighting, no trash talking. The one person I saw in my time there that caused a problem was removed very calmly and politely. The music is great, the design is beautiful, and if you don't like the prices, go hang out with the other drunks on Bourbon. Pros: pretty people, consistent service, great music, beautiful environment Cons: a little hard to find more

THE BEST 6/1/2006

METRO IS THE BEST CLUB IN THE NEW ORLEAS AREA. EVERYONE IS DRESSED NICE. YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT BEING SURROUNDED BY KIDS THAT JUST GOT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL LIKE YOU WOULD AT THE VENUE. THE ATMOSPHERE IS JUST NICE, CLEAN AND CLASSY. I GIVE METRO A 20 ON A SCALE OF 1 - 10. Pros: 21+, GOOD MUSIC, CLASSY more

Take your business elsewhere! 7/24/2005

I came with a few of my friends and have never encountered more rude people in my life!! My friends are from the North and this was there first time down here, so I figured I would take them to the Metro, and was so embarassed by the way they were treating not only us, but the people in front of us. They wouldn't let them in becuase of out of state ID's, but then let us in! The set up is nice, but not worth the money you blow for such rude service. Come on, are you that conceited from your night job! Go somewhere else. Pros: Atmosphere, Good looking people Cons: Staff, Parking more

Fun club but be prepare to spend money 7/17/2005

Metro is fun and definitely a variety of music, but you definitely have to be prepared to spend some money while you are there. The price is now $10 a person to get in with no deals on drinks. If you want water - bottled is all you will get. You must dress to impress or you will be turned away at the door. Valet parking avail if you want to pay; otherwise, parking is on the street and hard to find. I do enjoy going there every once in a while but my budget doesn't allow me to spend every Saturday there! Pros: Fun, Good music variety Cons: Expensive, Minimal parking more

DJ Subpar 1/19/2004

DJ Trashy is right. After I had been at the club for about an 11/2 the DJ stoppped mixing the songs and was playing top 40 and couldn't work the crowd. I have been on the V.I.P. several times and both times got hassled and treated rudely by the doormen. Pros: Good prices Cons: Staff, Music more

I Love the Metro!!!!!!!!! 8/4/2003

Looking for something to do on Saturdays? Head straight to the Metro. The atmosphere is spectacular. The music is great. They've even got a huge hip hop room. It's also a great place to meet people. It seems like the cutest guys and girls go to the metro. What's better is it's only 7 bucks!!!!!!! Pros: Cheap, Cute guys, Great music more

metro goes retro 12/16/2002

This is one outstanding club that is hidden from the rest of the city down in the wharehouse district. It is filled with beautiful women and great looking fellas. It has three different clubs so you can always find what ever type of music you are in the mood for. If you are coming to N.O. it is a don't miss type of place! Pros: vallet parking, low traffic area, lots of security Cons: none more

Editorial
  • In Short
Posh hotels, gritty music clubs and clever coffee shops have made the Warehouse District the city's hottest scene. The Metropolitan fits right in. This cavernous, multilevel club provides ample space (three rooms and six full bars) for 20-somethings and up to drink and dance. Stylish lighting and boom-boom grooves combine for a big-city studio feel. The Metropolitan is housed in a hard-to-find, revamped warehouse known as Generations Hall, constructed in the early 19th century as the New Orleans Sugar Refinery, much of the original exposed cypress and brick remains. The clientele drink up the latest trendy cocktails or loosen up with import brews. Ordering the club's namesake cocktail is always appropriate.
