I went for a regular cleaning... I've just moved to MN, decided to put braces on to correct a few imperfections on my teeth and I needed to do a cleaning and check up before having the braces on. I went to Metro Dentalcare because it was close to my house and it was referred by the orthodontics. The cleaning process was a nightmare (I had my teeth cleaned 4 months prior by my family dentist / back home). I am a tough person but at same point I had to ask the lady to STOP because she was hurting me. After ""the cleaning"" (torture session) she started talking about periodontal disease... by poking my gums and saying number out loud, she told she was very concern about the health of my mouth. She then called the ""main doctor"" (or so called doctor); they talked (whispered / to get me in the mood) for a few minutes and the the Dental Hygiene lady came back and said, ""I would recommend you to do a periodontal treatment. If you have time now I can go over your option. Or I can ask 'the front desk lady' to send you the information by mail."" Their theatrical act made me a bit concern, when I got home after a long day with my mouth soaring I did some online search and realized that I DO NOT HAVE the diseases this lady was talking about. Two days later with my mouth still soar, I received a letter from Metro Dentalcare with an explanation of the periodontal treatment, how much my insurance would cover and how much I would pay for (BIG BUCKS). I declined the treatment, and didn't give much thought about... Three weeks after that, I had my orthodontics appointment (when I was supposed to get my braces on) and for my surprise the doctor refused to have the braces on because they had gotten a note from Metro Dentalcare asking them to delay the orthodontics process due a periodontal treatment that I was supposed to go under.
I could not believe, leaving the dentist I contact a Family Business practice and sat up an appointment. When at this practice (Wayzata Family Dentistry) I asked everything about my mouth's health, and according to them it looked fine. However, they recommended a teeth cleaning because they were seeing spots in the X-RAY... End of history, Metro Dentalcare is a pure SCAM. They come up with diseases and treatment that you MAY NOT need ONLY to BILL YOU, and sadly they ARE UNABLE to do a simple cleaning properly. DO NOT GO THERE... YOU WILL WAIST YOU $$$!!!
Pros: stay away from this practice
Cons: poor work; SCAM
