I called Meticulous Mort because I had a problem with two toilets. Each was a different type of repair but he was able to complete both and get us back in business. While he was here, he saw that I had a broken kitchen cabinet door. It was a custom kitchen with european hinges and I thought I was really in trouble because the installer has since retired. Mort offered to take care of it so I was thrilled. He took the broken hinge apart and took it with him, found a replacement, and had it installed and adjusted in minutes. old world craftsmen still exist 11/27/2009

we had mort do some door and window repair that had been looked at by 2 other local contractors. where they seemed stumped and appeared unsure, mort knew what needed to be done, where to get the parts (very difficult to locate according to him) and finished on time and at the agreed price. It appears that old world honest and knowlegeable contractors do exist, you jus t have to search them out. Pros: knowledgeable Cons: slightly talkative more

Way overpriced 4/6/2009

My mistake for not getting them to give me an exact price before I OK'd the work. There are many other handymen in our area that can do the job right and not overcharge you. Can you tell I'm a bit upset at them? Pros: job done correctly Cons: They charged about twice what it was worth more

Dont waste your time 3/21/2009

I called this contractor for a bid on some garge repair work. When he arrived he bragged that he was 80 years old (so why would I want to hire an 80 year old contractor and create more risk in my liability. When I went over the job scope he proceeded to tell me what work he did not do, then without any research handed me a qoute for a job that was higher than two other bids received that took the contractor 24 hours to produce more

Find out about the ""Trip Fee"" 1/29/2008

When I called for an estimate to repair a small bathroom window I was told by Mort they had a flat fee of $175. When they were finished repairing my window (which took about 15 minutes) I was presented with a bill for $250! The extra $75 was for a ""trip fee"" which I certainly was not told about on the phone. It would have influenced my decision NOT to use Meticulous Mort for a simple window repair as I could have paid a little more to have a brand new window put in. Live and learn. more

Way overcharged 2/14/2006

Meticulous Mort arrived with two crew members and himself to fix some sprinkler problems. The two crew members worked diligently while Mort stood around. The problem seems to be fixed, although time will tell for sure, but what angers us is that we were way overcharged for an hour and a half's worth of work. We were charged a $75 travel fee (we are NOT far from their headquarters, and they are usually in our area anyway) and then the work on top of that totalled to a little over $300. That seems unreasonable to us. So we would not recommend this service because of that. Pros: Punctual, did not waste time Cons: charged too much more
