Messonnier Shawn Dvm

Me and my beloved pet have been a client of Dr. Shawn's for many years. I have found Dr. Shawn to be a very caring and informative veterinarian. He has always given me as much time as I need to get all of my questions answered. I also feel Dr. Shawn's staff is very caring and courteous. Even though at times I have had to leave messages, my calls are returned in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend Dr. Shawn as a Veterinarian. more

What a great caring doctor. When no one else could help our dog Joey, Dr. Shawn didn't give up. He was honest up front and told us it would be a tough road. Since everyone else had said nothing could be done for our pet we appreciated Dr. Shawn's positive yet honest feelings. And since my wife and I use natural therapies for our families, we really appreciated that Dr. Shawn was able to save our pets without the need for drugs. And his staff is wonderful. Despite our fears, they were able to support us and took our concerns seriously (other vets and their staff just seem to want to give up as they felt our case was hopeless.) If you are looking for a vet who takes the time to talk with you, appreciates your budget for treatment (especially with a problem that could be a prolonged and expensive course of therapy,) and gives an honest assessment of your pet's chances for recovery, look no more. Dr. Messonnier price gouged us on prescription medications. Our 15 yr old cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. He prescribed methimazole AND supplements. For the first bottle of methimazole, one ounce, 5mg/ml, 30 day supply, he charged $62. Dr. Messonnier picked it up at the neighborhood pharmacy and we ""purchased"" it from him. For the second bottle, two ounces, 60 day supply, he charged us $139.70. Once we found out what pharmacy was being used, we made an inquiry at the pharmacy and were told that the first bottle cost is actually $30.65 (he marked it up 100% or $31) and the second's actual cost is $63.60 (he marked it up 120% or $76). I wish I had read the previous reviews BEFORE I went yesterday. I too always got their voice-mail. The front staff are the most incompetent I have ever dealt with. I waited forever. And I saw Dr. Messonnier who blew off my concern about my dog's coughing for all of 4 minutes. The cost for the appointment was $70 alone!!!! The front staff lady even told my 5 year old to hold it when he asked to go to the bathroom because she was messing around with paperwork instead of walking him back! It was awful.
