Mesquite Valley Growers Nursery

I have bought several trees from MVG and I have been going there for years. However, I was treated horribly today by some staff members. Most staff are great and helpful. It's unfortunate that a few were so rude to me and my father I will NEVER go back. There are so many other great nurseries out there in Tucson that are all about the customer. It's a shame some of the staff at MVG have to take out their frustrations on the customer. Tread lightly. more

Good: I like everything about Mesquite Valley Growers. I find what I am looking for and the employees are very helpful.. Bad: I love going to M.V.G. . . . . . there's nothing I do not like about going out there.. Improvements: I am happy with them just as they are.. more

Last week I went in to MVG to purchase some Water Lettuce for my pond. The saleswoman hand picked 6 bunches (each with 4-5 rosettes) for me, and was careful to explain which containers to choose from and which bunches were for sale at a cost of $3.95 a bunch. Today I went back to purchase 6 more bunches. The lady at the register directed me back to where they were located and gave me two plastic bags for my selections. While I was selecting my plants a woman came back and told me that I could only select 1 rosette (1 Water Lettuce bud, hardly what one would call a bunch), and that I was not to select any bunches as I had last week. She then sent the owner back to my location. Upon his arrival he stated "I'm going to have the cashier count every one of those plants"! I explained to him that I had only chosen what had been selected for me last week by the saleswoman. He then stated "you only get one rosette", so I stated that he had just jacked the price of what I purchased last week five fold (1 bunch had 4-5 rosettes, now we were down to 1 rosette at $3.95). He then jerked the bag out of my hand and told me to get off of the property! I tried to explain to him that last week I had purchased 6 bunches, but he refused to listen to me and continued to tell me to get off of the property. This behavior by the owner was unbelievably rude, and outrageous! I have literally purchased thousands of dollars worth the plants and supplies from this company over the past few years for my Landscape Maintenance business! I have recommended MVG to hundreds of people over time. After my experience today with the owner of MVG, I will NEVER recommend them to anyone, nor will I purchase anything from them again! From this point on, I will recommend Civano. Obviously this owner doesn't care about his customers, and this is reflected in the downward trend of his ratings as well! The best thing that can happen for MVG is for the current owner to go bankrupt, and a new owner to take over! I can only wish! more

This is such a wonderful nursery to shop at. The employees are so incredibly helpful and friendly. My husband and I were trying to decide what type of tree to purchase for our backyard and they spent so much time with us talking about all the trees. They are so knowledgeable about desert plants. The only drawback for us is that they are way across town on east Speedway. more

Mesquite has a vast array of flowers, landscaping plants, and trees, as well as indoor plants to choose from. Their staff will help you pick the plants that are right for you based on water consumption, light/shade requirements, and size. All of the plants at Mesquite Valley are healthy and look terrific! They are also well marked with instructions for care and information about size. If you plan to do major landscaping, you must check out Mesquite Valley Growers, and consult with their staff. If you want quality plants, this is the place for you. They have everything you could possibly want or need and maybe a few you never heard of. But the staff is helpful and friendly. They care for the plants there on the grounds. I also recommend the fertilizer that they have created as well. It is great for the soil here in Tucson. I have not had any problems with my plants that I have bought from them and have some really unheard of fruits too. This is a must stop at place if you are looking to landscape or garden. more
