Mesa Community College

I just wanted to comment on another comment. (ugh community colleges) I realize it was posted in 07.\r It was said that "if you cant get into a university then MCC was not bad."\r Well I am going to MCC because it is one of very few colleges in the US that offer mortuary science. So everyone who attends a community college does so because they "cant" get into a university. I was given a full scholarship to a UNIVERSITY but turned it down to follow my dreams. Which I could only get at MCC. \r \r MCC is a great college!! The teachers are great and they all want you to succeed. All of the teachers that I have had were very helpful to the students also. MCC also offers plans that allow you to attend NAU for a certain amount of credits at MCCs's cost. more

I know it is college and they are going to paint the walls bright colors and write your name on the desk, but it is dingy, and old, and small. The only way to get there is through horrible traffic, no matter which way you go. I was not impressed with many of my teachers either. Parking is horrible. I attended Mesa Community College for my first two years of post-high school education. I was impressed by several of the professors and liked the smaller class size. The tuition was very reasonable compared to a university as well. In addition, my credits were easily transferred to a University where I finished my bachelor's degree. more

When I had to decide which community college to attain to, it was between this one and PVCC. I did not choose Mesa Community College because the parking was even more horrid than PVCC. Als the campus seems to have older bulidings and the classes reflect this. The halls are very narrow and cramped so you feel as though you're in prison. Also, there is very little technology in the room, and this negative aspect for students who require technological assistance. more

I'm just inherently against community colleges, I'm sorry, but I guess if you can't get into a university, MCC isn't THAT bad, but just transfer over to a university as fast as you can. Why waste your time at a community college anyway? Universities can offer you 100x more. I speak from the point of view of little high school asian kid who's spent many a saturday at MCC for Chinese school. I know the facilities there, and I WAS a little impressed with their library, but only because I was comparing it to my high school one. Honestly, it's not somewhere I'd want to go for an education. The architecture is bleak and confining, much like a semi-outdoor prison. The classrooms are horrendous, with dusty chalkboards and broken projectors and teeny little wooden desks. This school has top notch education comparable to any major university. Credits are transfered easily to the Arizona universities. The social atmosophere is pretty cool and there are many events and clubs. The campus is tidy and located conveniently off the 101 freeway. more
