Merry Maids of Greater Portland

I am a father of 3 kids and recently switched from using another cleaning company to Merry Maids. I must say I am highly impressed by their attention to detail, profesionalism, and personable staff. I have been using Merry Maids for over 4 years now and definitely over the years the crews have improved. The crew I have, I always like to think of them as the ""model"" crew. They always do a fantastic job! They have been together for over a year now and always take such good care of my home. I recently put my house on the market and so appreciate the care they take to make my home look so good for the realtor. I don't know how I will survive with out them! lol \r \r I don't quite understand the comment below me. Everyone at Merry Maids has always been so nice and helpful. This was a truly terrible experience. The service was astronomically priced and the work quality poor. The staff was late and was clearly stressed, though friendly. When I called to cancel my service the manager seemed to take it personally and became quite unprofessional. I highly recommend anyone interested in housekeeping services to go anywhere but here. more

I've been really sick the last 2 months and my doctor has me now resting and not doing any sort of physical work. I love cleaning my own home and hate to have someone else do it. Recently I took up the nerve to call someone for help and called Merry Maids. The lady on the phone was very pleasant and helpful. She then sent another lady to see my home and find out what/how I like things done. She too was very nice. Since these 2 were so sweet and seemed like they knew what they were talking about I thought I should give them a try. My first cleaning was great! The girls did an fantastic job! Way more than I was expecting! They worked so hard and kept a smile on their face. The wonderful job they did almost made me cry. My house looked so great when they were done, I made sure to call in and let their office team know. This being my first time have a cleaning company come into my home, I must say it was worth it!!!! I recently hired Merry Maids after years of having an independant person and was skeptical at first but now I am so happy that I have them. I have the same team coming out every week and they are always smiling and very professional about their job. I do pay more to have Merry Maids, but the detail work is so much better. So far great experience and would recommend them to anyone who needs that little extra help around the house. Pros: same team and day more

Staff was very friendly, but cleaning was not up to expectations. While it appeared clean on the surface, a closer look revealed dirt in the corners, dusting done in visible areas only, dirt swept under rugs and garbage bags were not replaced. Merry Maids' sales rep promised a thorough first visit deep clean. Walls, baseboards, doors, lamps, window wells & sills would be washed, dusting, vacuuming, & polishing. I also requested a full carpet clean, & the rep promised to come by the next day to measure for a quote. It never happened. Not only did the cleaning team arrive half an hour late, they were slapdash. At first glance it looked good but on further inspection, one could see where a duster had been swiped over the top, nothing moved, & the backside of the object still dusty. Window wells were ignored, so were baseboards, walls, lamps, & doors. As I had no aluminum foil, one cleaner said she couldn't clean the top of my stove. There is a time period where you can call and complain; unfortunately I headed out of town that evening for 3 days. It wasn't until my return that I realized what a shoddy job had been performed. The cleaning team had told me they had only been a week with Merry Maids, so I wonder if they had been trained at all? They were friendly and polite - it's obviously not their fault Merry Maids misrepresented them. I wrote immediately to the sales manager to inform her of my disappointment. To date she has never acknowledged me. I highly advise people looking for good cleaning service to look elsewhere. This branch of Merry Maids obviously do not need the trade and do not care if they give poor service. Pros: None. Cons: Bad communication, cavalier attitude of office staff, no follow up, poor service. more
