Merry Maids

I bought 2 groupons from merry maids and had planned to give them to my mom for a thorough cleaning of her home. They came out and did an initial assessment of what needed to be cleaned and looked around the house. It took them 5 weeks to call back and make a cleaning appt. with her (after a phone call from me) There were multiple phone calls in between with them trying to locate mis[placed groupons and checks for extra cleaning services that I had paid for. The day of the cleaning came and within an hour the maid was calling and complaining that the house was too dirty and she needed someone else to come and help her. I was later told that a groupon is only meant for certain" kinds of houses" and that they would not accept the 2nd groupon; a different household would have to use it. My mom and dad are 84 and 88. How dirty can a house be, maybe dustier than usual but that's about it.. What really bothered me was that the girl was outside in the driveway complaining to her supervisor so loudly that my mom could hear her saying that her house is dirty . It really bothered my mom that she said that because she really takes pride in her home and stays on top of it fairly well. Save yourself the migrain and find someone else. Can you believe my mom even tipped them? Would never recommend or use based on my experience with them. more

My husband bought me a gift certificate for house cleaning service from Merry Maids because I am always running around like crazy, trying to get our house ready for parties. I’m not sure how competitive they are in terms of pricing since my husband purchased the service. About the only thing I can say positive about this company was that they swept the carpets really well. They missed crucial spots in every room, including the stove, the tubs had streaks all over them, and there were spots on my hardwood floors that had been missed. They put a small dent in my family room wall when they were moving the sofa back to its spot after cleaning under it. Also, I specifically called before setting up the appointment to make sure the people would clean the particular things I needed them to do. I was assured that they would, but when they arrived, I was promptly told that they did not do the things I had asked about. The whole experience was awful and not at all what I expected. Save your money, do your own cleaning. more
