Merry Go Round

I work in Bellevue and have been to the new store location several times during my second pregnancy recently. I had previously purchased carseats from Merry Go Round at the old location and found them helpful with a decent selection of higher end items. I have no idea what has happened to them... maybe it's that they've moved to a bigger, nicer location and they can't handle the space or something. BUT, I have to say that one time I went in with my 70ish year old mother and my 3 1/2 year old daughter and seriously walked around that store for WELL OVER 30 minutes without even a hello. Employees were stocking items, walking around us... not even a smile. THEN this tall woman with short hair that works there did say something. She told my daughter (and I quote) "Get off that bed". My mother and I had turned our backs for a second trying to find a price (which we never could find) on some bedding I was interested in purchasing for my daughter. She was bored out of her mind after so long in the store so she sat, SAT on (one of the many) beds they had for display purposes. I couldn't believe my ears, GET OFF THAT BED... not even a please! I was in shock, I don't even speak to my child like that. Don't work in a children's store if you don't like kids, but don't speak that way to someone else's child. She wasn't even doing anything but sitting on the edge. Urghh, I'm still angry when I think about it and it has been nearly a year. I've been in there quite a few times since and still, never a smile and never a hello. At first I thought it was me, but I'm in my late thirties and have a career... I bathe and am well dressed. Only when I tell other mothers and expectant mothers about my experience do I hear it's happened to them as well. My advice... go to Merry Go Round, write down what you like and find it for less online (no tax and often very fast shipping) or go to a place down the street called Go To Your Room. They are MUCH nicer and will special order for you. I use Merry Go Round now as sort of a... showroom. I walk around... look & touch fabrics, push strollers or whatever then I spend my hard earned money elsewhere because I have choices and one of them isn't to be treated badly when spending entirely way too much money on things I have to have for my girls because I love quality things. You know, it's not like they notice anyway. more

I would check out Merry Go Round in Bellevue. They are a higher end baby store, but probably have exactly what you're looking for. We purchased our crib there, as well as other baby items. It is a great, great store. The employees are super helpful and go the extra mile to make sure you get what you are looking for. more

this bellevue store has been around for ages and specializes in children's furniture. they have a large show room and books and books of furniture makers and all the different lines offered. i like the fact that they have lots of furniture on display so you can rattle the cribs and test the drawers. the prices are higher than pottery barn and toys r us but the quality is superior and the variety wide. we have ordered two sets of furniture from them- infant set and bigger kid set- and have always found them helpful. most pieces are ordered and take 4-8 weeks so don't delay! more

I went to Merry Go Round at the recommendation of my mother in law to look for a crib. Although I'd also looked at Toys R Us & Costco Furniture, Merry Go Round had the largest selection. Although I thought they were expensive, when compared to other stores selling baby items, they are comparable. It is just that baby furniture is expensive. The employees I interacted with were very patient, answered all of my questions, and did not make me feel rushed. I definitely recommend this store. more

The baby stuff here is likely stuff you wouldn't mind having in your home. A nice treat from the super-cutesy stuff at Babies R Us. But, you pay for style! Merry Go Round sells higher end baby stuff and the price matches. I've actually found the service to be pretty spotty. In the several times I've been there, never once was I approached, greeted or helped. I might actually have bought something if I was (I decided to spend my money where they acted like they wanted it!). more

The selection is great, especially in the new expanded store located near the Whole Foods in Bellevue. But, above all, I think the service they provide is great - no hassle exchanges/returns, and they are very friendly and helpful with any questions. They even helped set up my stroller so I could use it immediately. Some things may be priced a little higher, but not all - strollers and big items seemed very competitive with what you can find on the internet. more

I found the Merry Go Round a great alternative. It has a decent selection, and their staff is actually knowledgeable and opinionated (something you won't find at BabiesRUS!). As other reviewers have mentioned, this store is a more expensive than the national chains, but for me, I appreciated going to a location where the shopping experience was pleasant and hassle-free. It is also not SO high end that you feel like you have to drive up in a Mercedes or BMW to fit in. They also do have occasional sales. more

We went to all the local places to look for a crib - usa baby, babysrus, pottery barn kids, burlington coat factory, etc. Merry Go Round had the best quality furniture and the biggest selection. We have not been to their new location yet (across from overlake hospital), but I am sure it is nice. Wait for the sales they occassionally have and you can get a free crib mattress and around 15% off the price of the furniture. They have great customer service with very knowlegdable staff. more

Merry Go Round is a high end baby goods store. They have everything you could possibly need for your baby, most of which is quality name and boutique brands. The carry hard to find items that might otherwise only be found online. The sales staff is very knowledgeable about their products and should be able to answer all your questions and show you how a product works. Merry Go Round is a great place to browse for baby stuff. They carry a large selection of upscale baby furniture, bedding, clothing and gear (strollers, etc.). The reason I use the term "browse" is that this store is very expensive. The bedding they carry is especially beautiful. It's in a completely different league than what you would find at Target or Babies R Us, and is priced accordingly. If you are in the market for very nice baby gear, and price is not an issue, then this is the place to shop. If you want a bargain, go to Target instead. more
