Merchant Machine Tool was founded in 1952 by Elroy Merchant Sr. Elroy sold the company in 1970 and George Merchant Sr. purchased a portion of the assets. George Merchant Sr. started Merchants Automatic Products (MAPCO) in 1971 as a family-owned operation in a rented 2,000-square-foot facility with only a handful of employees. In 1974, MAPCO moved into a larger facility of its own and eventually grew to over 30 employees.
MAPCO's current owner, George Merchant II, began working with his father when he was 15 years old. In 1987, he would become the third-generation owner of the business.

Today, MAPCO owns a 30,000 square-foot facility, employs more than 50 people, and operates some of the most sophisticated machine tools in the world. We continue to grow, with advancements in machining, ongoing training, and a commitment to quality by every employee. But through all the changes, our philosophy remains the same as it did in 1952: do whatever it takes to get the job done right.

MAPCO combines state-of-the-art machining technology and expertise to deliver swift, accurate results every time. We use a cutting-edge MRP system for real-time job tracking, powerful CAD/CAM tools for faster job programming, and some of the most advanced machining equipment in the industry.
We are experts at prototype through mid-volume production of specialized machined products that require high precision and close tolerance.

Screw Machine Department
Screw machines are ideal for large volumes of high quality, close tolerance parts (bar capacity up to 2 3/8 ? in diameter). MAPCO has single and multiple spindle screw machines for fabricating washers, bolts, nuts, and any other kind of special, precision-turned product.
CNC Milling & Turning
MAPCO's CNC milling and turning machines can perform complex operations ? contouring, drilling, milling, tapping, boring, turning, threading, micro drilling, and more. Our equipment includes 4-axis machines that can perform asymmetric and eccentric turning. In the hands of our skilled operators, they can create complicated geometries from a wide range of materials with relative ease. We make use of online computer system with 3D graphics (CAM) for programming and full MRP software.
Secondary Operations
We can perform all types of secondary operations to your supplied products, or we can manufacture your part complete with all secondary operations included. Operations include: Milling, drilling, tapping, contouring etc.
Inspection Department
MAPCO has over 50 years of experience adhering to strict standards of precision. We use the latest computer inspection technologies and an extensive gauge inventory for unparalleled accuracy. All inspection equipment is calibrated per ISO requirements. Our gauging equipment is continuously calibrated and traceable to national standards.
