Don't run from the scissors! 9/15/2009

Stacy made a potentially traumatic haircut a wonderful experience (I went from long hair, unchanged for more than 10 years to a very well done a-line bob). I have broken every rule for hair care and still felt quite welcome at this upscale salon. The staff is friendly (I expected snooty) and I would recommend them to anyone. Pros: Stylist listened carefully! Cons: Parking in this neighborhood is awful! more

A friend recommended the place. As soon as I walked in I was impressed! It was set up beautifully and i was greatly so nicely! My appointment started immedietly with Gretchen who was so sweet and listen to what i wanted and gave me excellent advice! She took her time doing my hair and I didn't feel rushed. She offered me a latte or something to drink, and I asked for water and it came in a beautiful wine glass with a lemon!! Everything was perfect. She was not able to do the blowout or anything but the girl who did it was also great! I had never got so many compliments on my hair before. The prices are a little expensive but totally worth it!!! I will deff. be a returning customer. Pros: everything! Cons: parking and the location. more

I tried Karen and she is the best!! 11/22/2006

I have lived in SF for years and was searching for a new stylist and colorist when I found Mercer Street Salon here on city search. After reading all the incredible reviews from Karen Prince's loyal clients from Atlanta I decided to give her a shot. I have NEVER been so happy with my hair, Karen is AMAZING. She listens and works WITH you and offers great, honest advice and her work is both creative and beautiful. It was the first time I have ever left a salon and DIDN'T have to wash my hair fix it as soon as I got home. I highly recommend Karen, she's great. I can't wait to go back. more

Great Stylist! 11/7/2006

Karen Prince has been cutting my hair for 4 years, and she is wonderful. My hair has been both long and short and she is excellent with both. She also styled my hair for my wedding and I received MANY compliments! I am sad to lose her in Atlanta but she is a great addittion to San Francisco more

Can't go wrong w/Karen Prince for Cut or Color! 10/25/2006

Karen has been my stylist for over 6 years and although I am terribly sad to see her leave, I know patrons of Mercer Street will be looking better with her addition. She's on the money when it comes to beautiful, natural hair color! She has an eye for the color(s) that enhance your hair color and your skin tone. Over the years, she's continued to give me a solid haircut that not only looks good when I leave, but continues to look good when I do it myself (something which has always been a challenge in the past). Give her a shot, you will not be disappointed! more

Karen Prince-new stylist 10/20/2006

Karen is going to be a great addition to Mercer Street salon. She has been my stylist for 7 years and I have always been satisfied with her work. In fact I have been stopped by strangers countless times complimenting my hair cut and color and referred them to Karen. Even when I moved 2 hours away from Atlanta I would still drive to Karen because I am so pleased with her work and trust only her to do my hair. Unfortuantley SF isn't a day trip because I really hate to lose Karen but it is definatley San Fran's gain! She listens to her clients needs and takes time to get to know them. She is passionate about her work and has an enourmous amount of talent and that makes her the best at what she does. You will not be disappointed in Karen's work. You will tell all your friends about her and keep coming back for more! more

Karen just moved to San Fran from Atlanta. I am one of her many clients in Atlanta and you are very lucky to have her in San Fran! Karen has been coloring my hair for years and she is great. I always have people asking who does my hair and she gets many referals that way. Karen is a very fun, sweet person who has become more of a friend to her clients. She will be missed very much. Give her a try - you will LOVE your hair!! (and Karen!!) more

OMFG! Evonne is one the the best stylist that i no. I have been to Many Hair Stylist in the greater SF area and no where did i find great service evonne has put through. Once Evonne left vidal i didnt know where to go and once i found she went to Mercer Street I was So HAPPY! well i highly HIGHLY recommend seeing Evonne! Pros: Everthing Cons: Nothing more

I have been to Lana as a client several times, every time I leaves I feel happy because she listens all of myne concerns gives advice and most importent colour and style my hair the way I want it. more

Mercys is nice place to relax and get great hair stile at the same time. Lana was amazing and, honestly, I don't even remember when last time I saw somebody so professional and friendly. My haircut and highlights are so beautiful, I cannot hide my happy smile more

Ask for Mascha--she's great! 2/26/2006

I've been to Mascha twice now and have been very impressed on both occasions. I have changed stylists a lot over the years--but no more! Since I've been going to Mascha, people regularly compliment me on my cut and ask who I go to, so I decided to write this review. Mercer Street is a great salon overall; complimentary wine or coffee, and everyone is very pleasant. And last, but certainly not least, the prices are extremely reasonable!! I'd recommend Mascha and Mercer Street to anyone. more

She is my stylist now, she cut & styled my hair and did an exellent job. Also Lana is fun person, I always enjoy talking to her about whatever. She knows a lot about her profession and she always helps you to choose the right style for you. She is the great! more

Ask for Sid 1/12/2006

I had a great experience at Mercer Street salon. Sid cut & styled my hair and did an awesome job. Sid is very knowledgeable, and exhibits great attention to detail. I was impressed that Sid took the time, not only to give me a great cut, but to educate me throughout the process of my cut & style. In addition, the staff & environment of Mercer Street was inviting & relaxed. I highly recommend visiting Mercer Street & asking for Sid. Pros: atmosphere, skill level, friendly staff more

At long last... 11/20/2005

After spending way too much at Vidal for over a year, I decided to give my budget a break and try to find a spot that could offer similar service for a more reasonable price. I checked out three other spots, but wasn't having any luck. And then I found Mercer Street. Evonne (who turned out to be a Vidal trained stylist) took her time and paid close attention to the little details and gave me a great cut. The space and atmosphere are great as well, with good beats in the background, plenty of space, and complimentary wine to enjoy during the service. Throw in a great head massage during shampooing and the fact that I was surprised at how inexpensive the cut was for the level of service I received, and my search is over. This is my first CitySearch review, and Mercer Street certainly deserves it! Pros: skilled stylist, atmosphere, luxury-style service more

Awesome! 9/22/2005

I visited my sister in San Fransisco and we went to get our hair cut. She took me to Mercer Street Salon, and I LOVED what Carlos did with my hair! :) I live in LA, and I've been back to have my hair cut because I couldn't find anyone who did it quite right in LA ... now the problem is finding the time to go back to get my hair cut every 4-6 weeks!! I love the service I received at Mercer Street. The staff is warm and welcoming,not uptight and snobby like many of the salons I've gone to in the past. Sid took his time and listen to my request. By far Sid has given me the best hair cut I've ever had! I highly recommend trying Mercer Street out. Pros: Service, Sid, Inexpensive more
