One or two of the pieces are very good, but for the most part the pictures have a paint-by-numbers quality to them. Most of the offerings are done by local artists who need more time to hone their craft before they display their work. The gallery itself is sub-par for housing work but it is hard for me to recommend any of the painting to buy.
This is a look-only gallery. If you want to spend some time looking at amateur artwork this would be an excellent place to browse. These painting don't touch the soul and there is very little that is original here. Some painting have good concepts, but bad artwork, while most in the gallery suffer from dated concepts not well executed. Landscape paintings are dated and there is not a market for them. As you tour this small gallery, you have to wonder why it was opened at all except to perhaps fulfill some ego wish.
The gallery does not have a website, but it should. A gallery of any quality has a website to display various works, but Melange has no web presence. Most galleries like to showcase their work online, but when they don't it can only mean that they have little faith in their artwork. Hopefully, there will be a site in the future, but it seems unlikely, since most gallery owners understand that a web site is important on day one.
Check Melange out. All in all, the gallery is worth a visit if you are a local but a one-time visit should convince you that you have seen all there is to see. I am reluctantly giving Melange one star. I wish that I could support a local business more favorably, but with this kind of quality it is very difficult to do.
