I have a car with a third-party warranty service and Meinert's is one of only two places in the city authorized to perform work for the warranty company.\r
\r
When I was having car problems, which I had hoped were under warranty I took my car there. After inspecting the vehicle they found 2 problems. One was causing the immeidate problem and was not covered by warranty so I had them fix that right away. The second problem was less severe but *is* covered by warranty so I wanted to get it fixed as well. However, I needed Meinert's to call the warranty company to get a claim number. I spoke to the warranty company and they explained to me how the process works.\r

I called Meinerts on eight (YES, 8) occassions to try to convince them to call and get a claim number so that I could bring my car in for the repairs. They never once returned my calls. I left all of the information on their machine for the warranty company: the phone number, contact persona and phone extension, my contract number, etc.\r
\r
When I finally got a live person yesterday on my ninth (9th) call, I was told I needed to be bring the car back and leave it there in the case that the warranty company wanted to inspect the car before they would issue a claim number.\r
\r
I explained that warranty people hadn't mentioned that, but if that was the case, why hadn't we done that when the car was there the first time? To bring the car back for 'inspection' is a hassle since these folks close right at 5:00 p.m. I asked them to please just call the warranty company and see if they wouldn't issue the claim number over the phone as I was assured they would, No one from Meinerts ever called me back. Surprise.\r

I am now taking the car to Broadway in East Liberty. I spoke to them one time and they are calling the warranty company to get the claim number so that we can schedule the work.\r

Don't waste your time with Meinert's. They are unprofessional, unhelpful and disorganized.
