Awesome Indian 10/18/2010

I have tried Indian restaurants all over the Seattle area (Seattle, Eastside, Everett, etc) and this is easily one of the best I have ever had. The daily buffet is a great, inexpensive lunch option and the tandori chicken, butter chicken, and naan are all to die for. The negative reviews must be from people who have no idea what good indian food should taste like. more

Worst restaurant on earth 8/1/2010

This restaurant is probably the worst restaurant on earth. Terrible stale food along with arrogant snobbish owners. I can't put in words how bad our experience and the food was. I think some of the slightly favorable reviews below were written by the owners themselves. I would have liked to do the owners a favor and give them more business by asking you guys to try out the restaurant and judge for yourselves how bad this place is; but I care about the readers. So don't visit this restaurant; not even in your dream (inception) Pros: Nothing Cons: Terrible wood, worse owners more

great place for Indian food 11/15/2009

I was spending a night at the Redmond Marriott and walked a couple hundred yards or so to get to the restaurant. The restaurant includes "the usual" dishes plus some dishes fairly unique to Indian restaurants - I had chicken with a coconut-peanut sauce. The real treat was the following day when, after checking out of the hotel, I went back to the restaurant to sample the lunch buffet. It was fantastic, one of the best I've ever had at an Indian restaurant and - believe me - I've tried a lot of them. There were a wide number of both vegetarian and meat dishes - even three deserts. Everything I sampled was delicious. I liked it so much that I just got a weekend night for the Marriott next week. You can be sure that I will be visiting this restaurant again - hope it stays in the program! more

The best Indo-chinese restaurants in Seattle 3/20/2009

They have huge selection of North Indian and Indo-chinese food. The Food is really tasty. I had food catered couple of times from them and food was warm, fresh and tasty. Pros: Great food, Great variety more

rude service 3/6/2009

I took a few visiting business guests and regret the decision. The food is not great, the bread was rather chewy & seemed as if it had been sitting out for a while. The rudeness of the service was worrisome. They got our order wrong and insisted they had it right. They said the bread is supposed to be served the way it was served. And I told them I was born yesterday. The place was so empty at a rather busy time... should have taken the cue from that. more

kid-friendly, neighborhood gem 3/6/2009

"This is the only Indian restaurant I have been to that has a kid's menu. They are extremely kid-friendly. Really good chicken tikki masala. We ordered the non-veg appetizer plate and the chicken was fabulous - wonderful spices, but not spicy. We look forward to going again and trying something from their indo chinese menu." more

?This was really good!? 3/4/2009

We stopped here for dinner after a very long day of driving. We were tired and hungry and just wanted some decent food. We both enjoy East Indian food and thought we would try this restaurant. There was only one other table filled in the restaurant, but it was early......about 5:30. By the time we left 3 other tables had come in. There were 2 of us and we ordered a side order of rice, one meat dish, one vegetable dish and 2 naan breads. You could pick the level of heat/spice in the dishes (1 to 5) so we chose a 3. I love hot food and this was great! The flavours were amazing and the service was great. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who like East Indian food. Even if you don't, I would still say it is worth a try. If this were at home, it would become a regular dinner spot. more

?Tantalize the taste buds? 3/4/2009

Not only was the customer service excellent but the food was fabulous...We had the lamb tikka masala and the chicken tikka...a bit of spice but not too much...the meat was tender, the sauces were sweet and savory...It was my husband's Birthday so they came out with a dessert of mango ice cream and carrot cake..I thought I didn't have any more room but one taste of the ice cream and miraculously I was hungry...to mix the ice cream with the sponge cake gave it a swirl of flavors...It cooled our palate from the dinner...We are going back...one of the best Indian restaurants in the Seattle area... more

Great food - nice ambience 2/18/2009

We recently visited seattle and statyed at the mariott near mehfil. I really loved the buffet there - great variety and authentic taste - don't forget the free mango lassi. We were so impressed with the buffet that we decided to go for dinner the next day and we were not disappointed. My wife and kids loved the food. we ordered a number of items - Lamb biryani, veg. fried rice, paneer tikka wraps, Chilly fish. I was a bit concerned to order fish at an indian restaraunt but chilly fish was the highlight - great taste. I wish there was a restaraunt like this in denver where i live. I've ordered biryani at a lot of indian places but mostly it is glorified fried rice with some lamb/chicken pieces added to it but the biryani at mehfil was very authentic. I highly recommend this place and we will definitely revisit mehfil the next time we are in seattle. Pros: Authentic food, great variety more

I totally think this place is not what it is made out to be 2/11/2009

If you are reading the last review underneath mine, I agree with everything he says.. I do not recommend this place, because the food is not good.. I did not have a good time here, and 2 words for the owner CUSTOMER SERVICE , how hard is that ? Pros: cool design inside Cons: bad desing with food more

Avoid Mehfil 2/4/2009

Today I had a disappointing experience at Mehfil's Indian restaurant in Redmond Town Center. Today my wife and I thought we'd try Mehfil's in Redmond Town Center. The time as about 2:15 PM. We went to Mehfil's and asked if the buffet was still running and the hostess cheerfully stated "yes it is running". I should have taken a look at the buffet, but given that I had asked, I assumed all would be OK. When we went to get our food, it was painfully obvious that we were staring at leftover food that had been sitting. We figured we'd make the best of it given that we were not too terribly hungry. I noticed that the salad bowl was pretty empty and I asked for it to be refilled. The owner came over and stated "We do not refill the buffet after 2:30 PM!" I don't know what the exact time was, but I told him "Just moments ago, I asked if your buffet was still operational". His response, in a rather rude tone was, "Everyone knows that at an Indian restaurant, no new food is added to the buffet after 2:30 PM." I told him I did not know that and I think that we were mislead by the hostess who moments ago stated "The buffet is operational." His response - "Sorry!" I must share some of the blame for today's events. We asked without looking at the buffet. We appeared to be the only folks in the restaurant - a clear sign that should have caught our attention. I left feeling poorly treated and vowing to never return. Not so much because of the buffet, more so because of the rude treatment received. It was clear that the owner did not care about the impression he made. He cheerfully handed us our bill for $18 and when I politely told him how disappointed we were his response was "There are always people who will have negative things to say." This guy is a dope! With the abundant choices of quality Indian food in the Seattle/Redmond area - Mehfil is one to avoid! Pros: None Cons: Food in buffet was old and owner was not willing to replenish more

Easily the Best in Puget Sound! 2/1/2009

Mehfil has the best Indian food, hands down, in the Puget Sound area. I have rarely been to an Indian restaurant that uses fresher ingredients. Everything from the tenderness of the meat to the sweetness of the dessert displays the artistry of the chef. Must say I have only been to their buffet. However, from what I have seen, their dinner entrees must be made with even more attention. I rarely write reviews....this I had to. Enjoy! Pros: Food Cons: Hard to find. Ambience could be better. Even as is, is better than 99% of the Indian res in the US. Maybe some soothing indian instrumental music would be great. Hariprasad Chaurasia maybe. more

The Best Indian Restaurant in WA State 11/10/2008

I have perused through others? comments and disagreed to the negative tones regarding the restaurant?s foods. My experience with the restaurant?s foods, service, ambiance, and location are general excellent. I took my Real Estate Clients and Friends there to treat them to dinner/buffet, and they all agreed with me that this restaurant has excellent quality in foods and service. Did I mention I love their desserts? They are tastefully delicious!!!! Also, the ambiance is by far greater than many Indian restaurants out there. This is one of many reasons why I keep coming back to them. Additionally, the owner, Krishna, and the staff members are very gracious and helpful. Just keep up the good work, good quality foods, and service. You will be doing great, Mehfil!!!!! Pros: Foods; Ambian; Service; Location more

best place to dinein for dinner 10/17/2008

after reading some good reviews about this place . i planed to treat my friends in mehfil for my birthday. as soon as we entered in to the restaurant. we saw some good ambiance and nice aroma from the kitchen . we asked to the waitress about the flavour , as she explained about the special dum biriyani. we desided to order. and it was wonderful and nicely decorated. and i can recommend the cheese bread , chicen chiili and chetinad chicken. .waitress is very active great service .we enjoyed will be back . see u soon more

Easily the worst indian place on the eastside 10/17/2008

We went today to this place after a while since the new management came in (old name was Sahib cuisine). We ordered Indian chinese dishes. It was horrible - I would give it a rating of 2 or 3 out of 10. The schewzen noodles was glorified Maggi, you can cook better food at home in 2 minutes. Everything from soups, ragda patti to gobi manchurian and even the curries were really very bad. Avoid this place at any cost. Goto Bamboo Garden nearby for indian-chinese and every other Indian resturant in the Redmond area is many times better. Pros: ambience and location Cons: food, service more

good food , great service, wonderfull experiance 10/16/2008

we went with couple of my friends on thursdayfor buffet. i found great foods . looks so fresh and delicious like some of the chiniese dishes , naans and mousse are awesome. my friends were happy.i recomend this place more

really good indian food in redmond! 10/12/2008

i just moved here from CA, me and my wife love Indian food, i try several restaurants in Redmond and around Seattle areas, but Mehfil is my best choice! and we went to couple of times for the buffet, tat was really great food i ever had! thanks mehfil! more

Not that great! 9/12/2008

After reading several positve reviews my husband I decided to try this restaurant out. We were craving some home cooking. The food was disappointing to say the least, the services wasn't that great. The server messed up our order -- we order lamb vindaloo and ended up with chicken -- how do you mess that up? Overall the food was not that great. The aloo tikka was pasty, the saag paneer was awful, the lamb vindaloo (but really wasn't) -- you don't put tomatoes in vindaloo. Anyways, been there, done that, would not go back. Pros: Ambience and Service Cons: Food and Value more

Great dinner option; average lunch buffet; somewhat pricy 6/26/2008

This is an excellent dinner option on the eastside for Indian food. The a food is delectable, good service and ambience. For anyone looking for a slightly more authentic Indian experience, I would recommend this place over most others on the East side. I personally recommend the Kheema rolls and the Chettinaad chicken curry. The options are somewhat pricey, but I gladly pay for the quality. The lunch buffet, however, is average and is comparable to other locations like Spice route, Taj palace - occasionally good, but not consistent enough to be a favorite lunch destination. If you have more time, I would recommend ordering a la carte, as this gives you the same variety available for dinner. All in all, this is a great place to go, especially if you like Indian food! more

Best Lunch Buffet and excellent customer service 5/26/2008

First of all I need to disagree with the previous reviewer as he can't be more wrong. This place has the best buffet on the Eastside. They serve all kinds of indian dishes including indo chinese dishes in their buffet daily and to top it they have salads, different kinds of desserts, naan, garlic naan and sometimes chicken biryani (Yummmm it is heavenly). I have stopped going to other indian restaurants ever since I discovered this gem. I have beein going this place atleast 2 times a week and I am surprised everytime by their variety of dishes and their excellent service. They also have the best decor on the east side. I can't wait to try out their dinner. I would whole heartedly recommend this place to others. Pros: Thumbs up Food, Decor, Service and Value & free soda with buffet more
